On August 11th 2012 the OMSC English Channel 2013 team will be taking part in the Salish Sea swim. The swim starts from Davis Bay on the Sunshine Coast north of Vancouver and finishes at Neck Point near Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.

 

The straight line distance is the same as the English Channel (30+km) and it will be a great dress rehearsal for our 2013 channel swim.

Kelowna Capital News - Okanagan teams shine at Canadian Masters Swimming Championships - Mobile Edition | Swimming Negative Splits | Scoop.it

A pair of local swim clubs made the most of the comforts of home at the 2012 edition of the Canadian Masters Swimming Championships.

 

The host Okanagan Masters Swim Club, represented by 35 members, placed a convincing second out of 86 clubs from across Canada and the U.S. last weekend at Kelowna's H2O Fitness and Adventure Centre.

 

In addition, Kelowna's five-member Wine Country Masters Swim Club won 18 medals and captured the division for small clubs.

I spent this past weekend at the 2012 Canadian Masters Swimming Championships. Hosted by the three Kelowna based masters swimming clubs. The Okanagan Masters Swim Club, The Wine Country Masters Swim Club and the Westside Thunder Masters Swim Club.


Unfortunately I broke a rib in a biking accident four weeks ago and this meant I was unable to compete. I had been looking forward to some long distance swims, 1500m free, 800m free and to fulfill the promise made last year to swim all four strokes at the meet.
