Many JS Frameworks but Vue.js Is Different

Many JS Frameworks but Vue.js Is Different | myStuff - Javascript related | Scoop.it

Nowadays, we have countless Javascript libraries available for us to use. Every once in a while we get a new framework/library for Javascript. I’ve used many Javascript frameworks, but I’ve never seen something as simple and flexible as Vue.js.

You’ll be amazed by how a few lines you need to write to accomplish common tasks in Javascript with Vue.js.

Intro to Vue.js: Rendering, Directives, and Events

Intro to Vue.js: Rendering, Directives, and Events | myStuff - Javascript related | Scoop.it
If I was going to sum up my experiences with Vue in a sentence, I’d probably say something like "it's just so reasonable" or "It gives me the tools I want when I want them, and never gets in my way". Again and again when learning Vue, I smiled to myself. It just made sense, elegantly. This is my own introductory take on Vue. It's the article I wish I had when I was first learning Vue. If you'd like a more non-partisan approach, please visit Vue's very well thought out and easy to follow Guide.

The foundation of async functions is Promises. That’s why understanding the latter is crucial for understanding the former. Especially when connecting old code that isn’t based on Promises with async functions, you often have no choice but to use Promises directly.

Creating a Master/Detail Page with Backbone and TypeScript | myStuff - Javascript related | Scoop.it

In this column, I'm going to go beyond creating a basic Backbone application with TypeScript that retrieves data and show how to create a master/detail page where the user selects a single entry which triggers a display of related data that includes multiple rows. In this application, after the user selects a customer from a dropdown list, the top of my page will display that single customer while the bottom of the page will display all of the sales orders for that customer.

Getting Started With Vue.js

21st July, 2016: Article has been updated to cover Vue.js 1.0.x, and a section on components added. Vue.js is a JavaScript library that helps you build web applications using the the MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel) architectural pattern. At first glance, it might seem quite similar to AngularJS, but once you start working with it you’ll quickly realize that Vue.js is not only much simpler and easier to learn, but also more flexible. In this introductory tutorial, I’ll teach you the basic concepts of Vue.js, and give a complete overview of its most important features. Vue.js 1.0.x has a few syntax changes that are not compatible with Vue.js 0.12.x. If you have experience using those early versions, you might have already noticed some of the changes in this tutorial. You can get an overview of all the changes here: What’s New in Vue.js 1.0 Adding Vue.js to Your Page Though you can get the latest release of Vue.js from GitHub, you might find it easier to load it from a CDN: <script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/vue/1.0.26/vue.min.js">; </script> Continue reading %Getting Started With Vue.js% https://goo.gl/HioGtq

Angular 2 and Observables: Data Sharing in a Multi-View Application

Angular 2 and Observables: Data Sharing in a Multi-View Application | myStuff - Javascript related | Scoop.it
Learn the benefits Observables can provide when you are developing complex web applications.

While a Promise represents a value to be resolved in future, an Observable represents a stream of values throughout. An Observable may be completed, which means it won’t emit any further values. An Observer subscribes to these Observables. These Observers are essentially callbacks to emissions of the Observable. This paradigm supports asynchronous operations naturally. In our application, the Angular 2 components have functions which act as Observers, while the data-sharing service can act as an Observable.

Writing performant code is absolutely critical. Poorly written JavaScript can significantly slow down and even crash the browser. On mobile devices, it can prematurely drain batteries and contribute to data overages. Performance at the browser level is a major part of user experience which is part of the 10up mission statement.
