iLook.TV lets you curate custom TV channels distributable via smartphone compatible apps that act as pay-TV like subscription channels.

The channels are commercial and can include or accept advertising requests thus providing a monetization opportunity for channel curators.

iLook.TV is made up of two components:

1) iLook.TV website where you create your channels

2) iLook.TV ChannelApp for ditributing your custom channel

In a Channel you can add / syndicate video clips and submit TV commercials to the iLook.TV system.

The ChannelApp is instead a mobile app that can be fully utilized by Channel subscribers as Program Guide for your channel as well as a TV remote to watch specific video content on their connected large TV screens. The ChannelApp can be branded, configured and submitted to the Apple App Store.

ILOOKTV supports three methods of monetization: subscription, pay-per-view, and TV commercials.

Soecifically:

  • A Channel subscription must be purchased by a TV viewer to play videos that are marked premium.

  • Pay-per-view (PPV) videos are marked with “Buy” (forever) or “Rent” (for 24-hours) and require a payment from a TV viewer.

  • TV commercials are submitted to the ILOOKTV system by advertisers and are automatically played on Channels that request them.  Advertisers are automatically charged for each insertion via instant auctions.

.

Revenues are collected by iLook.TV from subscriptions, PPV and commercials and are automatically shared with Channel owners.

.

The cost to own a Channel is $100 per year.

N.B.: Channel owners also need to pay the standard $100 Apple Developer fee when they submit the ChannelApp to the Apple App Store.

.

Promising concept. Rough implementation.
A glimpse at what the future of video curated content may look like in the near future.

In an attempt to create a consistent search experience across the wide variety of devices and screen sizes used today, Google changed the design of its main search results page, making it cleaner, simpler and with a bit more breathing room. At least, this is how lead designer Jon Wiley explains the new layout.

The real change is a small thing with big potential: Google added a new horizontal navigation bar, and completely removed the left side navigation. More on the potential later.

The move was officially announced on Tuesday via Inside Search, then Google asked for feedback on its Google+ page. As expected, some people like it, some hate it, and some couldn’t care less.

Why Marketers Need To Get Mobile (Hint: Because Mobile Is Blowing Up Marketing)

Why Marketers Need To Get Mobile (Hint: Because Mobile Is Blowing Up Marketing) | my site's | Scoop.it

Greg Stuart, global CEO of the Mobile Marketing Association, outlines the mobile imperative for marketers.

When I started in marketing nearly 30 years ago, my manager instructed me to “always go where the consumers are and get there first.” However, in today’s world, such a proposition is more complicated than ever as marketers try to master a wider array of media that is increasingly digital and, of course, more mobile.

What I find interesting is that consumers have been mobile savvy for quite some time and it is only now marketers are starting to consider mobile as a vehicle for stronger connection and growth. If our goal is to “go where the consumers are and get there first” then essentially, we are trailing far behind when it comes to mobile engagement.

eMarketer estimates that in 2012, U.S. consumers will spend an average 82 minutes per day on their mobile device, which is more than double from 2010. As consumers choose to spend more time with their mobile devices, it becomes paramount for brands to get going with mobile marketing. But why are some brands dragging their feet?

Simply put, many marketers are unsure how to harness the power of mobile. They know they need mobile. But the concept of mobile leading marketing efforts is still too unnerving and unfamiliar.

If I were to sum up the value of mobile to marketers it would be this: Nothing gets a marketer closer to consumers than mobile. Nothing.

By the end of the year, the number of mobile devices will exceed the number of people on Earth. And by 2016, there will be over 10 billion mobile devices, creating 10 billion opportunities for marketers to get closer to consumers. Marketers need to rethink the value of mobile marketing to put their brands in the hands of consumers.
