Content Marketing in Boring Industries: 10 Companies Doing it Right | My Scoops | Scoop.it

I’m pretty confident that solid content marketing principles apply to everyone – in every field. So I did some digging and started investing companies in boring industries and found that there are tons of great examples out there of businesses that are crushing it online.

Because Content Marketing is about publishing content, a common confusion is that it must be news.

But while content marketing can certainly be newsworthy, entertaining or even spectacular, it doesn't have to be. In boring B2B industries (not to say that all B2B is boring!), interesting doesn't mean necessarily mean fun. For prospects eager to be educated on a given topic, there's nothing more interesting than the perfect blog post that explains in a simple and actionable way how to solve this or that problem.

Content marketer and entrepreneur Sujan Patel did a great job at giving 10 inspiring examples of how to thrive through cotnent in a boring industry.

Don't think your industry has "interesting" enough content? Impossible! No matter what your business is, or how "boring" your expertise, there is an audience for it. There is dynamic content possible in ANY industry!

Groom Your Content Marketing By Balancing Between Earned, Owned, & Paid Media

Groom Your Content Marketing By Balancing Between Earned, Owned, & Paid Media | My Scoops | Scoop.it
f you are following the online marketing industry, the terms owned media, paid media, & earned media might not be new to you. However, what is the difference between the three and how important are they for your content marketing strategy?

Earned Media, Owned Media, & Paid Media is like a support stand for your content marketing strategy. It is not possible to single out any one out of these 3 elements that could be successful for your content marketing efforts, as all the three provide a cohesive marketing mix.

Via Brian Yanish - MarketingHits.com
Dean Ryan G. Martin's insight:

I agree. You need to figure out how to balance your marketing strategies and promotion. Whether you'll use owned media 60% of the time, it doesn't matter. This type of medium only gets effective if you're getting enough clicks. Paid media will cost you a lot of money if you don't know what you're doing. Remember: Not all paid media tools are measurable. It's a risk you need to take.

Like TV ads, you pay a network to flash the ad. You know the exact number of times your ad appears the whole day and you might assume hundreds of people will be convinced to take action. Still, sad part of it is, you can't measure the exact number of people who will watch your ad.

The 1% Rule Of Content Marketing

The 1% Rule Of Content Marketing | My Scoops | Scoop.it

Content marketing is a tough sell for many businesses. Why? Because it isn’t a quick win.

It takes time, effort, and serious persistence to play the long game, not the short game.

It takes courage to give away something of value without the expectation of immediate return. And even though this is the case, it’s been proven again and again that content marketing really does work.

But let’s assume the strength of your courage is starting to fade and your confidence that content marketing will bring you more business is waning. Maybe you’ve been doing content marketing for a while, and you’re just not seeing results you want.

How can you fix this? How can you make content marketing work for you like it has for hundreds of other businesses out there?
