World Architecture
Marco Longinotti-Buitoni's insight:

"Top Ten Architecture Past 100 Years" is an article descirbing some of the most inoventive buildings that have been created in the past 100 years. The list contains buildings like; Casa Mila Barcelona, Grand Central Terminal, the Chrystler Building, the Empire State Building, Kaufmann Residence, Johnathan Wax Administration Building, Fransworth house, the Sydney Opera-House, Seagram Building and the World Trade Center. One of the buildings on the list is the Grand Central Terminal, which is located on 42 Street and 3rd Avenue, New York. This building is made of stone facade and is famous for it's ellaborate designs that make it look out of place, since it has a traditional look to it and is in a very modern city. The other building of this list is the Sydney Opera House which is located in Sydney, Australia and was being built from 1957 to 1973. This building is made of concrete and has curved shapes, sperical roots, and is on the water, making it look like a sail boat. I think that this article is made to inform people about the many beautiful buildings that were created long ago, but are still considered as great as modern-day buildings. "Top 8 Skyscrapers That Will Push the Limits of Design" is an article talking about some of the most achieving pieces of architectural designing that will be built in the future. The first structure at the list is the Burj Mubarak al Kabir that will be located in Madina al Hareer in Kuwait. This building will stand tall at 3284 feet tall and will be made for over 7 billion dollars. This structure has such an interesting design because it would be made with twisted blades that make that structure look pointed and almost fake. An other building on the list is the design of the Miapolis in Miami, Florida. The design shows that it would be as tall as 3000 to 3281 feet tall and would cost 22 billion dollars to be built. This design is very fascinating because it will be slim and have a look layered look, and will have an indoor amusement park, performing arts center, marina, living spaces, and so on. An other skyscraper design on the list is the Nakheel Tower that will be located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and 3281 to 4593 feet tall. The design is famous for its cylindrical shape and 8 columns that meet at the tip of the structure. This article is very helpful to people interested in fancy and outgoing designs that will lead to the creation of future buildings. "Top 8 Skyscrapers That Will Push the Limits of Design." "Different Types of Jobs for Architects" is an article written by Clayton Browne about the widely varied career of architecture. Even though most of the architectural jobs can be quite different, the architects basically go through the same process. In the report, a list is given followed by a diagnosis for each type of architectural job. The first type given is a self-employed architect, or an architect who work for their own company. The second kind is a junior architect, or an architect who has just graduated and is working at a firm. The third is a retail architect, they are the ones who work for businesses and are in charge of building stores, restaurants, and so on. The fourth is a government architect who is hired by the government to make big, important; federal, state or local buildings. These architects have the most power than other architects and are most important to the community that their structure is in. The fifth kind of architect is an interior architect, someone who designs the inside of buildings or houses, and takes care of the furnishing, fabrics, color set up, flooring, and so on. Browne wrote this article to inform his audience about the different kinds of architects there are and the different jobs they have."Different Types of Jobs for Architects." Work. N.p., n.d. As Marco said, this article speaks of the wide variety of different types of architects, starting from self-employed architects to government architect even to interior designers. The article starts off by giving a brief description of the job of an architect. It states how they design and supervise the construction of buildings. The main types of buildings worked on by architects are, residential, commercial and public buildings. Receiving a bachelor’s degree in architecture programs can last around five years. Architects during their student years, learn academics including art history, design, math, physics and civil engineering, and some architects even seek to pursue a master of architecture degree, to better their chance of success. Although most architects go through a similar process, most architectural jobs are quite different and Marco did a great job explaining each and every one of the types listed in this article. I agree with his point on the buildings that architects work on are important to the public and community in which the structure is located in. Each job is vital in their own way and is essential to have in any community.

It is a general overview of the architectural field, and the skills needed for someone interested in the profession. The creators of the website explained that architecture is the occupation in which the skills of designing, studying and creating a building or structure are used. In the report, the variables that are important in affecting architecture, are clarified. For instance, the contributors explain how the the structure is informed by it's site. Is it on a hill? Is it in a city? These are just some of the essential questions an architect has to ask themselves. Since architecture is everywhere buildings have to be safe, efficient, and extremely precise. "Building a Career in Architecture" is an article written by Dawn Rosenberg McKay, who is known for being a professional career planner. The report includes; the process of becoming an architect, facts about the job, the requirements of the career and the future for the architects. Some included facts talk about past years in which the professions in architecture have flourished. For example, in 2008 a large number of jobs were available to architects, showing how open employment was for students. Architects are required to have a license, if they are working in America. A license can be obtained by either getting a Master or Bachelor Degree of Architecture from 2 to 5 years. In most states, a degree gets awarded, only if it is assured by the NAAB, or National Architectural Accrediting Board. The estimation given by the report for the future of this career, shows that it is most possible for an increase in jobs through 2018. In my opinion, this is a great article created by McKay because she shows the long and sometimes hard process of becoming an architect. MLA:"Building a Career In Architecture."
