Schwarzenegger admits habit of keeping secrets, including multiple affairs - CNN.com

Schwarzenegger admits habit of keeping secrets, including multiple affairs - CNN.com | My English Blog | Scoop.it

This article is mainly about Arnold Schwarzenegger having multiple affairs and keeping secrets from his wife. He had an affair with his kid’s nanny and had a kid with her. His wife asked him about it once the kid got older because he began to look like Arnold more and more. Arnold also tried to hide open heart surgery from his wife Maria. I can make a strong connection between Arnold and Tom, Daisy's husband in the book Great Gatsby. I can make a connection since Tom is doing to Daisy what Arnold is doing to Maria. Tom is having an affair with a girl named Myrtle who is married to George Wilson. In the beginning of the book we learn about this affair. Daisy is well aware of Tom's actions since he is not that careful to hide his relationship with Myrtle. In an interview with Arnold he says that it is one of his biggest regrets in his life. I feel bad for the guy but at the same time he has had multiple affairs and if the first time he cheated on his wife was his biggest regret of his life, why would he do it again and again? I think this is so wrong of any person to cheat on their spouse. There are many things that come with a marriage and one of the most important aspects of a marriage is being faithful. If no one was faithful, there would be no point to get married. Marriage is between two people and that’s it, no one else. Marriage is not always an easy thing either but its two people who are passionate about each other and give each other the strength they need to keep their relationship strong and only between them. If Tom could be faithful to Daisy, Daisy would be an even happier girl and most likely strive to make Tom and her relationship better. It is the same with Myrtle; she is just as guilty as Tom because she too is married and cheating. Nothing good will ever result from cheating, so there’s no point to do it.

Frank Sinatra - The Way You Look Tonight Original

The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra is a great example of Gatsby and is a perfect theme song. I think it describes Gatsby the best becase I relate this song to how he feels about Daisy. Gatsby is an extremely wealthy man who seems to have everything in life from a huge house to nice cars. But as a reader, once you get to know Gatsby better, you will soon learn that he doesn't have everything he wants. He is obsessed with Daisy and everything about her. He wants to be with her more than anything because she makes him happy and he is in love with her. He wants Daisy to feel the same way about him as she did five years previous. Without Daisy he feels empty and lonely inside and he wants to replace that feeling with Daisy. In this song it talks about how someone loves the way you look tonight,"I will feel a glow just thinking of you", and "And that laugh the wrinkles your nose, It touches my foolish heart." This song really sums up Gatsbys thoughts about Daisy. He would do anything he could to get his "golden girl" back and to have her tell Tom that she no longer loves him anymore and wants to be with Gatsby.

What Is the "American Dream"?

What Is the "American Dream"? | My English Blog | Scoop.it

"The American Dream is the idea that all people can have happy and successful lives if they work hard." In my opinion, I feel like people living in America take the American Dream for granted. There are endless opportunities in America to live a so called dream life far different from poverty in a lot of the world. The stereotypical American Dream is often portrayed as being perfectly average. For example, some people might say that it is being married, having two children and living in a three-bedroom home with a white picket fence. Rather than being based on great wealth or success, this version of the dream might be based more on avoiding things such as poverty and loneliness. The American Dream can be a lot of different things like I have already mentioned. The American Dream to me is when you have a loving and caring family with good children, a good job, and a life filled with happiness while living in America. With all the opportunities America has it would be hard to come to America and not find something you like to do. I am very proud of my country for presenting a dream such as the American Dream where people not from the United States can have hope to escape their troubles within their country and start a new beginning and America. America in my opinion is the best country in the world because of its endless amount of creativeness from the people who are so diverse.

Our articles were the same so our posts are very similar. I agree with the last sentence stating "America is the best because of its endless amount of creativeness from the peopel who are so diverse." I think that's why America is so great, its full of many cultures and so diverse that not many other countries have.

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson Reunite for First Interview After Cheating Scandal

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson Reunite for First Interview After Cheating Scandal | My English Blog | Scoop.it

This story about Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson is very similar to the some things in the book Great Gatsby. Kristen and Robert's relationship is somewhat similar to Tom and Daisy's relationship and George and Myrtle's relationship. There had been rumors that Kristen had been cheating on Robert this summer just like there had been rumors about Tom having an affair with Myrtle. It also is similar because Daisy had a really good idea that Tom was having an affair with her since Myrtle would call the house phone all the time. Robert had to have had an idea about Kristen cheating on him because he is a celebrity so when people start rumors about his girlfriend he is going to hear them. Whether he believes the rumors or not that is his choice just like Daisy has the choice of believing if the phone calls from Myrtle to Tom or friendly or more than that. Another way that it is similar is that Kristen and Robert stayed together after this scandal just like Tom and Daisy did even after Daisy killed Myrtle and knew about their affair. I honestly don't understand why people stay together with their spouse of they catch them cheating because in my personal opinion, if someone loves you they would never cheat on you or doing anything to harm you. With that said, I do believe in second chances but if you give your cheating spouse a second chance, you better be sure in your mind that they are not going to hurt you again.

The Jazz Age

The 1920's of America is known as the Jazz Age, The Roaring Twenties, or the Golden Twenties. During this time period it seemed that everyone had money. In my opinion, living in the 1920's would have been an adventure. People were doing a lot of things that would be considered odd in todays times. In the 1920's young girls who wore short skirts and cut gowns were called flappers. Flappers went out without a man to look after them, went to all-night parties, drove motor cars, smoked in public and held men’s hands without wearing gloves. "Mothers formed the Anti-Flirt League to protest against the acts of their daughters. But after the horror of the First World War, the younger generation mistrusted the older generation and ‘did their own thing’ which flew in the face of the establishment." When Prohibition had been introduced into America in 1918, gangsters were the ones who provided the alcohol. Al Capone one of the most notorious gangsters, made $60 million a year from alcohol sales alone during the 1920's. Movies were insanely popular during the Jazz Age, more than 100 million people went to the movies each week. According to this site, the 1920's made Hollywood. Other things going on during the 1920's were Wing Flying which is getting strapped to the wing of a plane and riding on it till it takes off and lands, sitting on a flagpole for as long as you can, and marathon dances until everyone had dropped. The 1920's ended with the Wall Street Crash of October 1929. Overall, the 1920's was an amazing decade where many things happened that helped shape America.

| Banning & Burning Books in America

| Banning & Burning Books in America | My English Blog | Scoop.it

This article is about top books banned in 2011 and the burning of books. In my personal opinion, the banning and burning of books is wrong in so many ways. There are many solutions to fix the problems that these books cause to some people. Instead of burning or banning books, people can simply gather all of the books that they have problems with and give them away or relocate them to a different location not near the original. This would prevent a lot of problems and would not be wrong. Imagine if you were an author and you wake up one day and read in your local newspaper that books you wrote have been burned to ashes because someone else thinks that your work is wrong. Everyone has the freedom to read so why should people be allowed to ban or burn books just because that certain person thinks it's wrong? To provide knowledge of freedom to read groups like the American Library Association and the American Booksellers Foundation for Freedom of Expression lead the organization of the annual Banned Books Week to highlight the importance of Freedom to Read. Without these organizations, I personally think that the Freedom to Read would be violated more.

I agree, without many of those groups, book burning would occur a lot more then it does. There are so many better solutions to burning books, and honestly I think books shouldn't even be banned.
