Whitney's curator insight, February 18, 7:01 PM

In my opinion, you need to take a basic music production class, finish as many projects as you can, finish as many projects as you can, identify your favorite songs, don't rush out and buy every piece of software and hardware that you need, choose only one Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), build a self-learning habit, finish the project to the best of your current ability, don't sweat it if you can't afford the synths, develop your own sound/style immediately, listen very clear, nothing beats practice, and start creating the drum beats for your projects.

The source that I got my information from was www.audioskills.com.  The source gives several music production tips from the experts, such as strategy, techniques, bonus material, advice for the beginners, the music production philosophy, the common mistakes when producing music, arrangement, creating melodies, remixing, compression, synthesis & sound design, drum programming & beat making, MIDI & VST/AU's, the best music production plugins, sage advice, career tips, and extra learning readings.  I think the resource is considered a valid source for major informational for audio professionals.

Vengeance's Avenger is one of newest VST synthesizer that came out recently, and it is known as one of best VST to ever come out. Based on the article, The Avengers provides a bunch of unique sounds, arpeggiator, drum sequencer, step sequencer, and pitch modulator. In my opinion, I wouldn't say it is one of best VST plugins, but I do recommend for those who need new plugins. 6 Pre-Production Tips to Avoid Problems | Music Producer's Spot | Music Producer News - Loops & Samples | Scoop.it

Whitney's curator insight, February 18, 4:40 PM

In my opinion, pre-production is  so important.  There is nothing worse more than finishing a song for someone and them saying it's too slow.  Always encourage a rough demo and let them listen to demo and let them listen to it for about a week and write it down where they see the song going.  Another thing to encourage is for them to bring an example of the type of sound they want.

Pre-production is one of the most underestimated phases in recording an album.  It is the phase where the artist (or band) the musicians, the music teacher, and the producer sit down to hear the whole song in its barest form.  This is where parts are tweaked or changed altogether, and this is when people fix the transitioning of each part to create a full and well-prepared song.

Rhythmology sounds pretty interesting but a little too sloppy for my taste. I prefer a DAW that is more organized and simple to use. Not being able to load new samples or sound into the plugin is a deal breaker for me and I don't work with loops that much. Usually, all my melodies and rhythm are original. I feel that it is very important producers to look into this article. Especially to those producers that like to work at home, or a place that is more comfortable to them. I remembered when I first started, I just had my midi keyboard and iMac desktop computer. As time goes on, I've started to invest in speakers, computer monitors and buying more VST plugins. Producerspot.com is very reliable because of its good amount of following and it's up to date. However, it is definitely not a major informational resource for audio professionals because they don't have enough followers.
Whitney's curator insight, February 18, 6:43 PM

In my opinion, building your own recording studio takes some elbow grease, and chances are you're not going to accomplish it all within a day.  You have to choose a location in your home that suits best for a studio, you're going to be spending a lot of time there.  There is no right or wrong size for an at-home recording studio.  You have to seal the cracks in order to contain the sound from leaking all over the place.  Ventilate and cover, elevate the floors, diffuse the sound, pick your recording software, install an audio interface and choose and buy the right equipment.
