KVR Audio Industry Focus: My local studio, the Music Annex, finally closed its doors a few months ago. I owe the Annex a debt because it was there that I learned about recording and music production. The people that owned it weren't stupid.

In this article, it talks about how a commerical studio had closed its doors because they heavily invested in a video editing facility which wasn't the best idea.  The studio became in debt because of this decision.  The Article also gives examples on why commerical studios are still needed even thought home studios are becoming more popular.

In this article, It gives you information on home recording studio essentials for creating your masterpieces from the comfort of your own home.  First your going to need a recording device which could be a computer.  Next you will need to have a good "mic" which you can find a good condenser microphone for under $200.  Dont forget to get a pop filter for the "mic" too, it helps with the un-wanted sounds that might come out of your vocals.  Then you should have some monitors and headphones.  Also you will need to get a MIDI controller or a synthesizer.  Last but not least you should have an audio interface. 

 

Pros:  The pros for having a home studio would be the obvious which would be that your in the comfort of your own home.  You can work in your own pace and can be there all day if thats how your feeling, do you! 

 

Cons:  The Cons for having a home studio could be that you might not have top notch quality in your music.  Opposed from going to a commercial  studio where you would usually get the best quality music.
