Shamshirgāh and Sialk: bricks with impression

Shamshirgāh and Sialk: bricks with impression | MrsDunnLibrary | Scoop.it

The Iron Age of the Iranian central plateau was first investigated 70 years ago at Tepe Sialk near Kashan (Ghirshman 1939). At this site, the upper archaeological levels indicate the remains of the Iranian-speaking people who founded the Median kingdom and subsequently the Achaemenid Empire. Today, as well as Sialk, we know of several important Late Iron Age sites such as Shamshirgāh (Kleiss 1983) and Qoli-Darvish (Sarlak 2011). For example, the recently discovered Late Iron Age cemetery at Sarm has produced archaeological materials which are so similar to those found at Sialk that the site could even be thought of as a 'second Sialk' in southern Qom (Fahimi 2004).

School libraries help students learn...

This is what I believe. And my research (and the research of many others!) supports this belief.

I use this blog to share new research and literature highlighting the many ways school libraries support teaching and learning in schools. It has provided a (somewhat brief) commentary on new resources and ideas, emerging theories and technologies, and best practice in teacher librarianship since its inception.

From 2011 I broadened the content of this blog to include musings on my learning and teaching experiences as a distance educator in the higher education sector, as one who thrives on testing and trialling new technologies to support her students’ learning.

Founded by Darius I in 518 B.C., Persepolis was the capital of the Achaemenid Empire. It was built on an immense half-artificial, half-natural terrace, where the king of kings created an impressive palace complex inspired by Mesopotamian models. The importance and quality of the monumental ruins make it a unique archaeological site.
