Battle of the Classrooms: Apple, Google, Microsoft Vie for K-12 Market - EdSurge News

Battle of the Classrooms: Apple, Google, Microsoft Vie for K-12 Market - EdSurge News | Moodle in Education | Scoop.it

It’s terribly confusing, but perhaps no coincidence, that three of the world’s most prominent consumer technology companies—Apple, Google, Microsoft—each boast a “Classroom” tool aimed at K-12 educators and students. After all, what better way to secure a foothold in the market than impressing one’s brand to future consumers at a young age?

I remember when Bill Gates lost a law suit. His answer to it was to give computers to schools instead of paying a cash fine if I remember correctly. At the time Mac was king of schools...after that mac was never king again in schools. Gates is also behind to push to divert public tax dollars to privatize education. The Walton family also is seeking to turn education into venture investment profits.

Supporting Technology with the SAMR Model Plus Ten Great Resource Sites

Supporting Technology with the SAMR Model Plus Ten Great Resource Sites | Moodle in Education | Scoop.it

In this post I wish to go beyond the idea of finding the tech in the standards. Instead in this post it will be important to see how the technology is being integrated in a classroom. Not only should the technology support the standards, but proper integration of technology will ensure productive and effective technology use and integration in the 21st Century Classroom.

I love Moodle, there I’ve said it! This feeling is far from being shared by all, and I have quite a few colleagues who cannot stand the beast. Whilst some teachers do not like Moodle because they have an aversion to using technology altogether, there are also ‘technophile’ teachers who simply do not like Moodle for other reasons (interface, clunkiness, etc.). In this post aimed at Moodle admins/enthusiasts, I’ll share some tried and tested techniques (in no particular order) to get ‘them’ to use Moodle.

Importing grades from an Excel document into Moodle is easy, if you follow some very specific, non-intuitive, steps. Importing grades from Excel is useful if you prefer to use Excel for grade calculations or if you use Scantrons and have a spreadsheet of scores that you want to quickly copy and paste into Moodle.
