Massive open online courses have generated much excitement, scepticism and consternation in tertiary education.
Juliet Hinrichsen's insight:

What is meant by a 'top lecturer'? Is it a TED-style appeal or something else within the context of a discipline (such as highly rated research)?  Is the 'learnability' from the lecture important or is it reputation?  I think these questions will determine whether this favours or adversely affects research vs teaching focussed institutions.
