It's important to realize that many people reading this will be behind the trend and chasing it without seeing results. Think about previous years when you heard how important it was to build your email list. If you jumped on that trend then you realized that by the time you built a big enough list to mean anything, that has become less effective.


Next you were told how Social Media was going to make a break your business. Many people chasing that trend did not reap the rewards they anticipated. Why? Is it because social media marketing isn't effective? Is it that the gurus were wrong when they told you that without SEO nobody would find your website? No. It's about timing. Just like this article when it's focusing on everyone's excitement of content marketing. What happens when EVERYONE focuses on content marketing? Just like everything else.. it becomes clutter and noise. Does this mean not to create valuable content for readers to consume? Absolutely not. My message to you is to get ahead of the trends, not follow them. 


The next trend is video. Create as many videos and as much content as you can. These assets will dominate in the next 3 years when everyone is sick of reading all this content.
