This is an excellent website that can be used as a resource for enhancing visual literacy, close reading and visual thinking skills, which are fundamental within the Arts. In the Arts, specifically Visual Arts and Media Arts, it is crucial to be able to read an image, and these photographs and resources within the link can be easily modified to create some simple exercises in reading the artworks.

Educational Leadership:Teaching with Mobile Tech: How to Transform Teaching with Tablets

Educational Leadership:Teaching with Mobile Tech: How to Transform Teaching with Tablets | Mobile Teaching and Learning | Scoop.it

"If students were doing awesome things with an iPad, what would that look like? Here's another way of putting it: How does an iPad align with a vision of meaningful and purposeful learning?

Bereft of examples and inspiration, many educators struggle to conceive of iPad integration beyond mere substitution for whatever came before. Educators need guidance on how to leverage iPads as hubs of innovation that nurture the learning skills, competencies, and habits of mind that help students develop skills for today's world.

With that in mind, here's a look at two teachers and their iPad-infused classrooms."

Questions to ask:

How will learning be different?

How will students improve as learners? As scholars? As citizens?

What will they be able to do 3 or 4 years after the ipad adoption that they can’t do now?

If ipads are the answer, what was the question?

What does awesome look like?

How does an ipad align with a vision of  meaningful and purposeful learning?

If you are interested in to know how as a teacher can you effectively utilize Twitter I highly encourage you to read The Teacher’s Guide To Twitter.

At the Social Learning Guide to Twitter for Teachers you will find:
1) A creative writing lesson plan using Twitter,
2) 15 creative ways to use Twitter in the classroom, and
3) 17 videos on how as a teacher can you use Twitter in classroom!

kaitlin lelievre's curator insight, March 15, 2014 10:55 PM

Point 7; Leaving space. I think is becoming more common practice since the "RT" function on Twiter has been changed. this allows others to join the conversation and make their tweet make more sense as a stand alone tweet to their followers instead of having to look at what the tweet was replying to in a conversation.

The Idea of "tweet again" is new to me, I have seen the practice done by annonomus "funny" pages like and hobby pages like @relatabletweets @AboutVirgos who don't have a lot of new things to say and are usually trying to get as many Rt-->followers as possible therefore it is important for them to be at the top of their followers timelines to be seen. Whereas "celebrates very rearly tweet the same thing/topic twice unless they are promoting their work/tour or a competion or sponsor company.

Alison Rostetter's curator insight, March 26, 2017 11:02 AM
I let my business class do presentations on screen-casting.  It gets them a speaking grade for the end of term.  The reason I do this is a) so they can get it out of the way whenever they have time - the deadline is fairly long and b) they tend to take more trouble over it than if it were just an ordinary presentation, in front of the class.

#Fake #News, #Alternative #Facts and #Librarians As Dedicated Defenders of #Truth @jenniferlagarde

#Fake #News, #Alternative #Facts and #Librarians As Dedicated Defenders of #Truth @jenniferlagarde | Mobile Teaching and Learning | Scoop.it

"Let's be clear, there's no such thing as "alternative facts."

The same fact can be used by different people to support alternative opinions, but the facts don't change. Different people can use the same facts to emphasize alternative ideas or to inform different theories, but the facts remain the same. Facts are non-partisan. Facts alone are neutral. It's what we do with them that becomes controversial.

That said, there's a not so old saying that goes "we are drowning in information, but starving for knowledge." (Note: the fact that this saying is attributed to at least 5 different people when I do a quick search for the author is an irony that has not escaped me, but I digress). These days, getting answers to your questions is just about the easiest thing in the world. Getting the right answer is more challenging. Librarians (and Neil Gaiman) have known this for years, but one thing is certain, in the information age, discerning fact from fiction is THE "21st century skill."

Two Wonderful Visual Lists of Educational iPad Apps for Teachers and Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Mobile Teaching and Learning | Scoop.it

"In their attempts to establish a 1:1 program for the year 6 class, St Oliver Plunket has recently held a series of workshops in order to develop their students skills before they were officially given management of their very own devices.

The workshops were particularly centered around teaching students about some tips and tricks for managing their iPad, email etiquette, successful searching and copyright and creative commons. I personally was thrilled by the efforts these people from St Oliver are putting into making their 1:1 program a success and I hope other schools would do the same."
