MLB should protect catchers by wiping out home-plate collisions
Denver Post
I hope MLB has the guts to make the move. The violence of home-plate collisions doesn't make baseball a better game.
Brett Lewis's insight:

I understand that people want to protect the catcher during the clash at home plate i really do. But the thing is that this is how baseball has been played forever, is it fair to change now? I understnad that they want protection, but they already wear too much some would say now. I honestly think that its fine where it stands now, the players understand the risk at tehre positions when they come into the league, they have been playing this game there whole lives and i don't think that they would want the change either.

Returning core will serve Cardinals well in 2014
MLB.com
ST. LOUIS -- Amid the sting of a Game 6 World Series loss in Boston, several players in the Cardinals' locker room were able to look around and gaze ahead.
Brett Lewis's insight:

Twenty-two members of the 25-man World Series roster are returning in 2014 for the Cardinals, a sound sign that the club has a solid group that should help it remain World Series contenders for the next year. The Cardinalds are feeling really confident going into the off season with such a young and talented roster. They expect to be contenders for many years to come. Shortstop is the obvious place to begin, and the Cardinals will be aggressive in scouring the free-agent and trade markets for a shortstop who can be more of a threat in the lineup than Kozma or Descalso were this season.

MLB trade rumors: Dodgers shopping Kemp? Yankees eyeing Beltran?

There has not been much hot stove action yet, but the pilot light of baseball's winter is certainly on, with rumors flying fast and furious.
Brett Lewis's insight:

Trade Rumors and free agents are all being talked about, and yes the Yankees are in the center of it all. They want Carlos Beltran, but not sure where he will fit into there jammed outfield lineup. Also Matt Kemp is being talked about possibly being traded away from LA. These rumors are adding up making the PR jump through the roof. This off season will surely show us a lot. Also it will show us who is going to take a change at these players.

Washington Nationals join MLB trend of first-time-managers
Washington Post
The new face of baseball leadership has fewer wrinkles.
Brett Lewis's insight:

The Washington Nationals join a list a few teams that hire a new Manager that has has no experience before. Its a risky/bold move it shows that they are ready to take chances as a ball club and are now putting there fate in new hands. The Nationals missed the playoffs this year, but they made it last year so you know that the potential is there now they just need to harness it. It's nothing but positive PR for them with a new manager, yes it may be risky but they have to make changes to get into a new direction.
