What happened? Ernesto Miranda was charged with the rape, kidnapping, and robbery of a 17 year old girl. After approximately 2 hours of questioning by police, Miranda confessed to the crimes by a written statement.

Because Miranda wasnt read his rights he potentially "won" his trial. Though he confessed, he was unaware of the rights he had. This case changed the procedure of interrogation and the whole process of police custody. Now-a-days if your miranda rights are not read to you, no statement can be allowed in evidence.

Miranda had been convicted for many unexcusable actions. It this case had not turned out the way did us as citizens now a days could not know the importance of these miranda rights.
