Sophie Rieder's insight:

Consumer engagement is one of the most important things a business can do when they are marketing a product. They need to be able to get the attention of the consumer otherwise they will not get noticed. These days consumers are constantly on the internet whether it be on social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter or online shopping to buy their products. As this is happening more and more it is important for business's to keep up and become as written in the article, "social business's". I agree Sophie, it is most important to get the consumers attention when promoting a product otherwise the consumer will not result in purchasing if they feel un-interested. In my experience if I am not engaged in the product their would be no point in me buying the product, therefore this step is key to result in sales and profits

Consumers want a product to be marketed at them directly, otherwise they are just going to look past it. As well as this a consumer is drawn in to a product much more if a business uses a personalized marketing message. If a consumer feels like the product is personal to them they engage in the product and far more likely to buy in to the product.

I agree Sophie, Direct marketing is essential when it comes to promoting a product or service. Consumers do want to be marketed at them directly so they feel a bond between them and the company where they are then more likely to purchase the product.

Relating to your consumers is key. If a consumer feels that they can relate to what you are selling in an emotional way or how you are selling , this process leads to success as they are more likely to purchase something they can relate to and trust, than something they don't quite understand.
