Are children more reliable, yes and no

-children do have a good memory but make things up on the way.

-They can be influenced by the frequency of suggestion of the false memory and by the insistence of the person making the suggestion.

Things that can fault

-Age
         Preschoolers are more vulnerable.

         they can't difference reality with truth.
Desire to please the interviewer can lead to conforming responses to leading questions by the interviewer.

Visual Expert Human Factors: Eyewitness Memory Is Unreliable

Expert witness for accidents involving human error in vision, perception and attention: highway,legibility, lighting, warnings, interfaces, etc. Intellectual property disputes where visual similarity is at issue.

-foor a memory to be stored you need it unconsiosly processed and most people don't recall facts that they may believe won't become useful after words

-need implicit and explicit memory

-memory can be blurred

-we tend to recall brighter colors

-memory refills those missing "gaps"

We believe we recall every event with precision when in fact every memory built inside is reconstructed every time you try to remember. When trying to rely on memory for something relieable, memory can become a dangerous weapon. Even though its dangerous it can be a goodway to remember "happy childhood memories".

Critical Incident Amnesia- Memory Reconstruction

Inevitably, an individual who has
encountered a critical incident will seek information
from outside sources in order to make sense out of what
has occurred.
Alejandra Martinez's insight:

-when trying to take evidence from an event, recording is most perferable since the memory of the writer can change as words are spoken and will try to find a "reason" as to why things happend and will manipulate the memory that had been created

-group thinking is more likely so you need to avoid when testifing
