Après plus de 6 mois en version alpha, BlueStacks vient enfin de passer la seconde avec une beta qui roxxe du platypus.

Thanks to korben,

Here a software I will try, for what purpose... let's say to try an application before I decide to put it on my HTC Sensation... 8-)

By the way I discovered Angry Birds Space, will it push me back to this game I didn;t play for months? Perhaps, yes 8-)

Geolocalisation inside Mall

Thanks to Laurent M.,

Did you ever try to look for a store in a mall, on a map?

Usually, you will find (in the best case) all store at the same exact location. The mall could be hundreds of meters (thousands in the US??), all store appears in one place, not the center, but one place, randomly or sort of for the user.

Of course GPS doesn't work inside buildings, but using the inside mall map would be useful for anybody, especially the business themselves!!

That will be really useful to know where to enter, where to go for sure to find your brand, your store. Another example of extra-local?

Phones vs tablets question: One hand or two?

Phones vs tablets question: One hand or two? | Maudits Geeks | Scoop.it
It's no secret I like large-screened phones and 7-inch tablets. Although I own an iPhone, I use my 4.65-inch Galaxy Nexus far more often. The same goes for my Galaxy Tab 7.7 as compared to my iPad 2. Why?

Thanks to gigaom.com,

I personaly always used screen you can interact with: pdas, first pdaphones, computer with rotative screen and capacitive stylus...

I always used my newly smartphone with 2 hands, except for some minor tasks such as answer the phone. But everybody using smartphone use it with 2 hands often, to write sms.

I think that I am exatly like the writer of this article, I like the merge from smartphone and tablets as it fit my needs of having a phone, but I want something bigger for office's tasks or to surf. And this is the only solution today: a Note-like smartphone (>5") or a small tablet (<7").

Of course in the future, I would like to use a small device that can project its UI on something, that you can interact with. Wait and see.

Mac 4 Ever : Le désarroi des revendeurs Apple

Mac 4 Ever : Le désarroi des revendeurs Apple | Maudits Geeks | Scoop.it
Actualité Apple : Le désarroi des revendeurs Apple...

Thanks to RC,

When I bought my ipad2 in March 2011, the day it appeared in Canada, it was cold outside.

[boring story is coming...]

I had 2 main choices to buy my ipad2 that day:

 - The main Apple Store on the main shopping street.

 - A tiny store in the bigger mall in town center.

Because of the temperatures, I choose the mall

[ok there was a goal with the cold thing...].

I was the 9th in the queue, and at the end, there was perhaps 50-70 persons.

Once ipad2 were available, people were served, people were almost crying with joy, happiness was everywhere... Ok, people were hoping.

After 8 sells, and just the guy before me, the seller announced that there was only 2 more ipads. And he explained to whoever was ready to listen and not punch him in the face, that Apple makes the rules, and those announces were part of it.

I took the last ipad2 available, no choice for memory, connectivity, color.

This is missing in the article, as today the only important is money, but that must be an important stress for people from those store to face people waiting for hours...

Sony confirms PS Vita games will be cheaper on PSN than in store – Video Games Reviews, Cheats | Geek.com

Sony confirms PS Vita games will be cheaper on PSN than in store – Video Games Reviews, Cheats | Geek.com | Maudits Geeks | Scoop.it
Feb. 3, 2012 - This month sees Sony release the follow-up and replacement for the PSP.

Thanks to geek.com,

"That’s about a 10% difference.", this is what is announced by Sony for the price difference. I remember that I read (and perhaps I posted it here) something about occasion and how big companies dislikes those, because they loose some customers.

Yes think one minute, you buy your game $60, and sell it in a store or on craigslist or to a friend... at least $5-15 or do you prefer buying it $54 and won't be able to resell it?

Especially if this is a "bad" game.

Of course for some "must-to-have" games such as GTA, BF... you can think about it. I mean you can do whatever you want, I am just here to try digging some ideas 8-)

And one more thing, since I am this side of the Atlantic Sea, and I don't have an unlimited internet anymore, this is a cost I need to think about. How much weight a PS3 game? 25Go? This is more or less the basic limit for many user of internet.

Buy your games local, store will be glad, people from the stores will thanks you (or not), you will go back in the same store exchanging your game for another one, you have plenty of reasons to buy a real game, companies have plenty of reasons for you to buy it online!!

This is 2012 now, but do not forget, on @RealTimeWWII this is 1940 and there is a crisis at that time too...

With this new year 2012, everything change or not.

The crisis is now weel implanted in Europe, Free Mobile killed the regular mobile prices in France... everybody made new good resolutions on its own.

But do not forget @RealTimeWWII, and remember (I know we French are living in the past, but it could be useful to remember sometimes). And if you don't remember, you will learn many interesting facts which forged our current world.

That was a long tirade to notify that @RealTimeWWII is doing a real good job!! 8-)

Tough love, tank style: World of Tanks [Review] | IncGamers | Maudits Geeks | Scoop.it
Tough love, tank style: World of Tanks [Review], Is tank-tastic too obvious?

Thanks to wot and incgamers.com,

This is an article on WOT, World Of Tanks, a free MMO about tanks.

A colleague of mine counselled me some weeks ago. I like it, really.

The goal is simple: buy a tank and survive or die.

No history in the game, you could fight in a tank from 1939 against a current tank, and even "planned-only" tanks which never existed.

For real, you earn silver and experience, which let you buy new upgrades for your tanks and new tanks too.

That game is really good, realistic in a way.

Some people complaint about boring things such as:

 - Depending on the tier you are in, you will fight tougher or easier tiers. Toughier tanks are a pain in the ass sometimes when you think: "If I die I need to repair my tank".

 - Buy a new tank (and its upgrade, because stock version of some tanks are really bad) requires silver. You will earn an amount of money each battle. If you make quick calculation, dying/repair/upgrade/... sometimes you need to fight hundreds or even thousands of times in the same tank. That you be boring.

 - I add something: to integrate a fight, it takes at least a minute, so if you die quickly, you will wait like for ever...

A REALLY good game, with some glitches to correct...

I am pressed to go back home to play... 8-)

Edit:

I am glad because with this post, I am right in the theme of my scoopit: between France and Quebec!!

When I saw for the iphone 4S I wondered how my fellow comrades around me are using their iphone, because here we have less than -10c very often.

And I am sure that Apple didn't make special iphones for Canada (Toyota told me that my RAV4 was build in Canada to ensure that cold was not a problem, is that right??).

So what is real, I will try perhaps, if I am fool enough to go out with a temperature below 0c... 8-)

Twitter / Josh Helfferich: Before and after the iPhon ...

Before and after the iPhone: http://t.co/wz9TpipC...

Thanks to Josh,

I really like the comparison, before it looks like a Picasso or the design from the 60's now this is more like a sad design with no colors...

I often say that having an iphone (I used the iphone because it is the most used/common phone) is like having an uniform, everybody has the same exact phone. An army of exact phones/computer/... Of course, you can customize your own, because that is the way things are working today: buy the exact same than every one and buy the way to customize it to make it different... ??? Am I missing something? As Geek, or early adopter, I think this is totally a nonsense for me, I like having something others don't have.

When I used to sell phone to finance my studies, I remember that we had so many different phone shapes, from small to big, colors, functionnalities... Some were dying for the Startac, others for the "zippo's" Nokia...

Today this is rectangle, thin and dark (from above, even if white it looks dark, thanks to the screen).

I would love to find a Japanese phone, because they still have some phones totally unknown for us western people.

HTC to Stop Making So Many Goddamn Phones

HTC to Stop Making So Many Goddamn Phones | Maudits Geeks | Scoop.it
HTC has a problem. It realizes it's addicted to new phones. And if HTC's execs make good on recent words, we may no longer be drowning in a torrent of the company's new models every other week.

Thanks to gizmodo.com,

I agree HTC is really sick since 3-4 years!! I always liked the hardware from HTC, and let's say that before the HD2, it was "easy" to follow HTC's phones. But after, I can't even remember the name of mine or what are the differences between mine and the XL for example...

I am sure that guys at XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com) must be really annoyed adding phone each week 8-)

Let's see what will come, I will have to change mine soon, it is already 3 months old!!

TechCrunch | Popular Like Voxer

TechCrunch | Popular Like Voxer | Maudits Geeks | Scoop.it

Back in late November I wrote about a walkie-talkie mobile app called Voxer that had looked like it was starting to break into the big leagues of mobile communication.

Thanks to techcrunch,

I used Voxer during my trip in France.

My wife and I are using canadian cell phone and of course as soon as you are out of the country, everything is considered as roaming. For example, on Virgin, I have:

 - $2 per minute for any call.

 - $0.70 per SMS.

That is expensive!!

Voxer let's you use voice, text and pictures and transmit it to your friends/family/...

It was really convenient to use, and it works well.

Someone in the post from techcrunch does not understand why people are using this, but I have an answer: today, the cost of data is more and more expensive and free wifi is well developped (not in France) in bars, cafes... This is a solid alternative to send information to others at no cost.

Voxer really worth the try, if you need it, you won't be disapppointed.
