Students are to go to this website, click on the link "Algebra" and completed the "Polynomials" work page. Print screen your result to present to the teacher, along with the answers to these questions.

1. What is a Polynomial, how is it defined in algebraic terms.

2. Solve the following equation, Y= 3x +18 with respect to x.

Persistence in Problem Solving | Grade 3 Math Word Problem | Teaching Channel | Math for Third Grade | Scoop.it

From the website

Third grade students work independently to solve a math problem three ways and then present their solutions to their class. Teaching method in this video builds student confidence in math problem solving on their own.

Comment from Lynn Meade

I loved the problem! It was realistic, so through the eyes of a student, it is worth figuring out. I also appreciated the fact that you had them show their solution with three methods. Your worksheet was excellent! I like how it included a table and some approaches that students may want to consider. Thank you for sharing!

This fits perfectly with the standards that I am focusing on with the students I will be teaching. This shows how students should be able to solve problems multiple ways and are able to show how they did it. Students who are able to solve problems in different ways will also have a stronger confidence when working inside and outside of the classroom.

My students will really enjoy this math game that they can play during computer center or math center.  This is another game where they can practice their addition instead of having a direct teacher included lesson.
