Advertising and marketing have changed over time, but they also have some similarities. Ads in the past have appealed emotionally, such as using gender and sex, to sell their product. This is opposed to selling it logically, using numbers and statistics.

Advertising is more based on having ongoing dialogue and a relationship with the consumers as opposed to the monologue. The biggest are that needs improved on is businesses need to learn how to use the new technology. A lot more ads are being made but only a small number of them are seeing the light of day.

Lego made an ad before that featured a small, 4-year old female child. Having a female, even if she is a child, was a bit controversial for Lego when they created the ad. Bringing her back for another advertisement shows how past ads can relate to future ones.

Integrated was once looked at as being a dream. Today, it is one of the most successful marketing strategies. If smaller companies want to become more popular, they need to use integrated marketing.

The way movies are marketed is changing, has been changing at an alarmingly rapid pace over the past 3 years, and is due for major paradigm shift in the near future.

Movies produced today are budgeted from marketing differently today than they were before.  When before it was a 70% for marketing and 30% for production budget, today many movies have a 80% for marketing and 20% for production budget. The expenses of effective marketing have increased.

Marketing techniques in the past aren't as effective as they used to be. Now, the consumer has to WANT your product for your marketing to work. With so many other options, you have to make sure they want specifically your product.

Advertising may be the most important aspect of selling a product. In 1984, Apple hired Sir Ridley Scott to create a super bowl commercial. The effects of this commercials, Apple became a household name, they gained mass amounts of publicity, and it set them on track to be one of the world's most successful companies.

Before when companies would market, they would just try and get the consumer to buy their product. Now, companies want consumers to get invested into their products. Brands have to adapt to the market much faster than in the past.

Advertising has changed quite drastically over time. In the past techniques such as radio advertisements. Because radios were a lot more prevalent in the past, they were the prime spots for an advertisements. Nowadays, advertisements on mobile devices or tv are more sought after.
