Long, short, short, long. I agree with Jason Quey. This debate on the perfect number of words per post is asinine and useless. If you want to attract the right kind of readers and customers, you have to craft your content for them. Period.

Not all small businessmen need a website. A website isn't a necessity considering all the online channels you can register to. All small businessmen need to learn how to blog though. Blogging needs to be a part of their daily routine. A blog is their online journal to build connections.

I recently conducted a survey of small business owners. The lead question asked what their single biggest challenge is.
They also found that 56% of companies invest less than 1-3% of their revenue on marketing, including infrastructure. Interesting that one of the biggest problems is getting the least fiscal attention!

All I could think of while reading Barry Feldman's post is how marketers and small owners need to try their hand at poetry or photography. Barry starts with the idea of discomfort, which is exactly what all potential customers experience before they find you. It's your role to make the experience unforgettable for them. He then goes on to describe seven things you need to focus on when writing your copy, with examples to help you better absorb the advice. Based on the many posts I have read on the topic, this one is hands down the best because it "walks the talk". It is long but has a lot of bulleted parts and short paragraphs, with bolded sentences and sub-headers.
