These are some interesting infographics that provide a pictorial representation of data in a form that can be easily understood. In an age where the quantum of data is increasing exponentially, it has become extremely important to use infographics. Raw data and statistics can become a turn off, especially for those who don't have an eye for figures! Infographics are being used very successfully in schools and colleges to present information in an easily assimilable form.

33 Social Media Facts and Statistics You Should Know in 2015 | Managed Document Services | Scoop.it
The biggest trend over the last 12 months has been the move from earned marketing attention (sometimes called free) to “pay to play”. Another is the impact of social messaging platforms such as Snapchat and Whatsapp that have become “quasi social networks” in their own right.

It’s a social web shift that is driven by a connected generation. If your Mom joins Facebook, then maybe it’s time to play somewhere else. Teenagers don’t want to be dancing with their parents. Right!
In fact the the instant services and chat apps now account for 3 of the top 5 global social platforms....

Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes.

(From the article): Grant Thornton says around 40% of employees would like their organisation to embrace social and McKinsey says that it can deliver productivity benefits of 20-25 %, yet this is not yet well understood by CEOs.

Enterprise Social Networks (ESNs) like Yammer allow a CEO to talk directly to staff across geographies, driving engagement and innovation.

Gartner Inc says that while social networks will become primary channels for work-related decisions, 80% of social business efforts may not achieve the intended benefits due to inadequate leadership.

This is probably the most important reason CEOs should set aside personal views on social, broaden their understanding of its benefits and risks and find ways to meet customers, suppliers and people where they already are – in social networks.

Looks like an interesting and worthy addition to the LinkedIn experience. What do you think?

(From the article): Cory Edwards, head of Adobe’s Social Business Center of Excellence, commented on how Elevate helped his employees share more, leading to more attention for the company:

"This product helps our employees start social conversations about Adobe and the industries we serve. Adobe employees who participated in the LinkedIn Elevate pilot drove 80 percent more Adobe job views than they did previously and in February alone, each participant drove three to four new trial downloads for Adobe solutions. Our employees want to be active on social media, and LinkedIn Elevate offers an easy platform to provide them with insightful content that they will want to share."

Content Marketing, the Infographic Way.

Content Marketing, the Infographic Way. | Managed Document Services | Scoop.it

Infographics are a fun way to present information on the internet. The random visitor might just click the x sign at the right corner of the page and contribute to your bounce rate if he encounters a business blog that has annals of text. But give him an infographic and he stays. Simple, he thinks (and he’s right there) that it’s easier to lift information off an infographic than from a text post. Information, numbers, ideas, statistics and conclusions pop out in an infographic. It is tough to miss important information in an infographic presentation. But write a well researched article on a Word document and publish that on your blog- well, the results might not quite match up to an infographic built from the same data. Less is more. Indeed!...

This article makes a valid point about Infographics not being a suitable medium for every type of communication.  There is a temptation sometimes to try and make it fit when there could be a better way.  However, when done well I think they are a great way to capture and convey the salient points.

donhornsby's curator insight, March 24, 2015 10:16 AM
(From the article): It’s all too easy to get lost in the wilderness of data that comes with having a social media marketing presence. Each platform generates its own unique set of data, and that data may not be comparable to that of another platform. Some datasets, like Facebook’s, seem almost exhaustive, while still offering only vague hints about what’s working and why. Others, like Twitter, are deceptively simple yet filled with nuances.

Which of these data points are relevant? When it comes to growing your social media presence and running effective social media marketing campaigns, what metrics really matter? And how can these metrics translate into the hard data that can be shown to have an impact on the company’s bottom line?

Let’s take a look at the 14 most important social media metrics.
