Big data is impacting on every industry. Health and personal monitoring devices are increasingly linked and the questions raised in this piece tie together big data, computational thinking and IoT considerations. Shrugging in exasperation is less helpful than modelling innovative new apporahces to problem-solving. Therein lies some of the promise of a data-driven culture.

What’s happening, says Mike Armistead, VP and general manager of HP’s Fortify unit, is that manufacturers are rushing to get their products on the market without doing the harder work of locking their devices down against the most basic kinds of attacks. I’m talking about your car, fridge, tv, blender, air conditioner, front door, and even your wallet. This inevitable future is why google is starting today with affordable gigabit internet. This new wave of device overload will open up revenue and advertising streams to a whole new level. Today’s infographic states that in 2020, every human being on earth will be connected to 10 separate devices. I know I’m already using five and I bet one of the most prominent technology coming up soon will be wearable tech. If its for exercising, sports, general information or just making phone calls, wearable tech will be an exciting addition today’s digital arsenal. Learn more:

This is an interesting article. What does it mean that the second economy is automatic and invisible? We need to be mindful and attentive to our choices.

Very interesting food for thought! I particularly like the ideas of the CIO acting as a Venture Capitalist, the crowdsourcing, the technical debt reversal, the in-memory revolution and realtime DevOps.

I am an advocate for listening to students. We cannot give them everything they want, but we can listen and provide the tools they need to learn.

I scooped this article because it supports the idea of having technology in the classroom for useful reasons rather than just to have it in the rooms. Empowering students and helping them gather self-confidence are two aspects that can be energized while utilizing technology within the classrooms. I hope that teachers read this article and realize that while we all say "just Google it" that students hear that too, and want to just Google things as well.

Nowadays, many teachers sill hesitate about the fact of using technology in the classroom as they were never exposed to it, and yet they learnt. But... Have they really thought thoroughly on the way kids live their lives nowadays? What was a toy for them, is a device for kids right now. From the least to the most rewarded (monetary speaking) kids, they all have access to technology and they enjoy it up to the point of spending hours in a row in front of a screen. Then, the use of technology in the classroom will wake their curiosity up and engage them into the learning process faster. Besides, you will be of their like!

Interesting, but worrisome story earlier in NYT on the shrinking U.S.' Middle Class, and the Way It Affects Businesses.
"The top 5 percent of earners accounted for almost 40 percent of personal consumption expenditures in 2012, up from 27 percent in 1992. Largely driven by this increase, consumption among the top 20 percent grew to more than 60 percent over the same period."

Very interesting (and highly relevant to the helping professions such as coaching...) move from the original 4Ps of marketing (the right Product, in the right Place, at the right Price, supported by the right Promotion) to the new 4Ps: Purpose (what your business stands for), Passion (all about leveraging the power of your people to build your brand, see Empowerment...), Participation (companies are looking for partners with the same values whom they can work with to make a difference and further their reach) Profit (self-explanatory...)
Now, this is not a gobbledygook, these are real elements and here also appears the unavoidable need for a passionate, involved, engaged, aligned and empowered staff... do you understand the importance of this? It is a free advertisement for the helping professions, guys...
