Movie goes ‘All In’ — good bet for poker fans - Chicago Sun-Times

Movie goes ‘All In’ — good bet for poker fans - Chicago Sun-Times | Lucky Vegas 77 Poker News | Scoop.it
In the excellent new documentary “All In: The Poker Movie,” there’s great archival footage of Amarillo Slim winning the World Series of Poker in 1972. First prize: $80,000.

By 2006, when Jamie Gold bested 8,772 entrants to win the WSOP Main Event, first prize was $12 million — more than the winners of the Masters, Wimbledon and Kentucky Derby put together. The numbers have dipped only slightly in the last few years, even after “Black Friday,” when the government shocked the poker community by essentially banning online poker in the U.S.

All of this is well-chronicled in “All In: The Poker Movie.” You can watch it now On Demand or on iTunes. Back to the legendary Slim, who passed away over the weekend at 82. He was the first TV poker star, the only poker player to make multiple appearances on “The Tonight Show,” equal parts gambler and showman.

Top 5 Most Played Casino Card Games

Top 5 Most Played Casino Card Games | Lucky Vegas 77 Poker News | Scoop.it
Online poker is king, but which other casino card games are popular with players?

Poker is the king of online gambling, but the leading Internet-based casinos bring you a wide variety of card games from around the world. We present you with five of the best and most popular card games, each of them attractive in their own special way, and each of them worth trying out on a trial basis or for real money.

Baccarat is simple, fun and has a high return for players, with a house edge of as low as 1.06 percent on the best bet. While it is usually played in a VIP section at land-based casinos, the leading online casinos such as bet365, Winner and William Hill offer you easy access to this fun game. Familiarize yourself with the various card values, and with the three possible betting options - player, banker or tie - before playing for real money.

Punto Banco is a variant of Baccarat popular in the USA, Canada and Australia, and available at the same online casinos which bring you regular online Baccarat. Punters are able to place wagers on either the player or the banker - which are essentially the two hands dealt in every game. The goal of this exciting but easy-to-play game is to score a 9 or as close to 9 as possible. Of course, the main aim is to beat your opponent by holding a better hand.
