Eating disorders in children are on the rise. Often children struggle with feeling they don't have any power or control in their lives. Some children turn to their eating behaviours to make themselves feel like they have some form of control. This article gives some recommendations to help parents practice eating disorder prevention for their children, in their home. Intervention for child eating disorders starts in the home.

Interesting insight into how disordered eating behaviour in males tends to focus on muscularity rather than the female typical 'thinness'. Also interesting links between concerns with muscularity and risky behaviours such as binge drinking and drug abuse.

Advertisers' airbrushing accidents are well-documented, in large part for their comedy value.

Unrealistic: Ralph Lauren was forced to apologise after editing a picture of model Filippa Hamilton to the extent that her head was bigger than her waist. The AMA has now slammed the use of photo editing software in ads

A statement released afterwards explained how 'a large body of literature links exposure to media-propagated images of unrealistic body image to eating disorders and other child and adolescent health problems.'
