Ready For Your Appledroid?

Ready For Your Appledroid? | Local Market Apps | Scoop.it
Google has become one of the most prolific developers of apps for the Apple iPhone, helping its rival even as their relationship worsens.
Cindy Zeis's insight:

While some may base their trend projections on the perceived relationships between corporations.  I tend to let actions speak a little louder than words when it comes to forming an opinion on what's next in the industry.

With Apple opening their otherwise exclusive platform to Google applications, it speaks volumes to where the company currently lies with their relationship with long time opponent, Google.  Well, at least that's the public perception anyway.

From a developers perspective, I think the synergy between the two can and will work out very well in the long run.  This may result in some end user warfare but hey, we're used to that already.

As with anything, only time will tell but from my corner of the world...I think it's a natural fit for both companies.

Cindy Zeis's insight:

Here's just one more reason I love those folks over in PA.  No, not because it's where I was born and raised but because Aweber is constantly looking to find ways to develop their API (application programming interface) to help businesses grow.

In this case, Aweber is helping Etsy sellers increase sales to their already existing customers.  It couldn't be easier with everything they've put in to this programming.

If you don't currently use Aweber and need a little help getting set up, and learning how to use it....we should probably talk!

Office Depot leverages QR codes in-store to help customers get organized - Mobile Commerce Daily - Content | Local Market Apps | Scoop.it
Cindy Zeis's insight:

When creating a campaign that involves QR codes it requires a well thought out plan which we turn in to a full on marketing campaign.  In this example we see that this campaign involves the use of a minisite along with a social strategy.

You don't have to be a huge company like Office Depot to make technology work on your side.  Don't think you have to have thousands of dollars to dump in to a single campaign, we can pull these things within the budget of any small business.

Google Play will hit a million apps in June (probably sooner than the iOS app store)

Google Play will hit a million apps in June (probably sooner than the iOS app store) | Local Market Apps | Scoop.it
Google actually caught up with Apple in October -- or got close enough that the distinction became academic -- with 700,000 apps.
Cindy Zeis's insight:

Don't let the "Play" part fool you.  You can generate a serious increase in foot traffic to your location and even optimize your customer's in-store experience and have them coming back time and time again.

That is, if you do it right!

The "what not to do" is to create a mobile app that is merely a replica of your already existing website.  If you think you could boost sales with...

-In App Loyalty Coupons (that know they're in the store or can be scanned)

-Turn by Turn Map to get them to you without even having looking up your address

-Single Push Dialing

-In App Purchasing

-Real Time Specials (helps with those low volume afternoons)

-Built-in Social Sharing

-And really...anything you can think of

Will help keep your business in the black for 2013?  Let's talk...

Mobile Site or Mobile App: Which Should You Build First? [INFOGRAPHIC]

Mobile Site or Mobile App: Which Should You Build First? [INFOGRAPHIC] | Local Market Apps | Scoop.it

The one question that comes up more than any other when working with a business owner is "which is better, mobile app or mobile website?"  The only correct answer, as always, is it's whichever one serves the needs of your business best.  To determine this we need to have a full understanding of what actions you're looking for from your prospects/clients and which end user experience is right for them.

The fact of the matter is, if they won't use it then it's no good whether it's a mobile application or website.  You might as well invest in nothing than to make an investment in a poorly thought out and executed marketing plan.

Here's an infographic to help you determine the best fit for you and your customers....
