4 Facebook Secrets from Social-Savvy CEOs

4 Facebook Secrets from Social-Savvy CEOs | LMC | Scoop.it

While teens (and lately, brands) have been flocking to the hot new social network, Snapchat, I’ve in fact noticed a trend in the opposite direction. From T-Mobile CEO John Legere to World Bank president Jim Yong Kim, a whole new breed of savvy execs, managers and business gurus are trickling back to a familiar  network: Facebook. It actually makes a lot of sense. With the world’s biggest social audience of 1.6 billion (and counting), and popular new tools like Facebook Live video, the ‘old school’ social network seems to be as—if not more—attractive than ever.

You think Snapchat is for sexting, but it's actually a giant threat to Google, Facebook, and TV

You think Snapchat is for sexting, but it's actually a giant threat to Google, Facebook, and TV | LMC | Scoop.it
The most popular TV show of fall 2014 was NBC's broadcast of "Sunday Night Football." It averaged 21 million viewers per week.

The strongest cable show was AMC's "The Walking Dead." Its midseason finale, in November, reached 14.8 million people.

Big numbers, right?

Try this one: 24.79 million.

That is the number of people who, on the evening of Jan. 26, 2015, and over the next 24 hours, watched a video broadcast on their phones depicting the sights and sounds of New York's "Snowpocalypse."

Josh Constine:  "QR codes have been a laughing-stock for years now. The gangly square bar codes were slapped on posters and magazine pages, and heralded as an easy way to open URLs or bonus content."

24% of teens go online “almost constantly”

24% of teens go online “almost constantly” | LMC | Scoop.it

"Where do they hang?

The researchers noted that teens are diversifying–71% of teens use more than one social network site.  While we see frequent reports of its waning popularity, Facebook continues to be the most used social media site among American teens ages 13 to 17, with 71% of all teens using the site; half of the teens surveyed use Instagram; four-in-ten use Snapchat.

Facebook users typically have 145 friends.  The typical teen Instagram user has 150 followers in his or her network.  The typical teen Twitter user has 95 followers.  One third of teens use Google+.  Because schools have been adopting Google apps, many teens use Google tools in and out of school for school-related work.  One quarter of teens,  and even more girls, use Vine to share short videos.  And on in seven teens, and even more girls use Tumblr, the microblogging/curation platform."

"Interestingly, African-American and Hispanic youth report more frequent internet use than white teens. Among African-American teens, 34% report going online “almost constantly” as do 32% of Hispanic teens, while 19% of white teens go online that often.  Hispanic and African-American youth have somewhat less access to desktops, but African American teens have greater access to smartphones than their Hispanic or white counterparts."
