Class Charts - seating plans and behavior management software

Class Charts - seating plans and behavior management software | Living Life | Scoop.it

Seating charts are an essential part of any good teacher’s tool kit. They help organise students into appropriate learning groups and minimise behaviour issues – the class teacher asserts their authority before the lesson even begins. We take seating charts a step further. You can optionally include and display key data (eg SEN, reading age) about each pupil which is used to intelligently position pupils in the classroom to maximise learning.

As I  expect positive behaviour and engagement from my students,  I find it pretty useless. However,  it may be greatly interesting for keeping records on, for instance,  learning to learn sklills or procedures; for mastering processes.....etc.

Gary Harwell's curator insight, January 12, 2014 3:17 AM

This could be another good tool for Class Administration

Giant tsunami wave eats boat as earthquake hits Japan

Giant tsunami wave eats boat as earthquake hits Japan | Living Life | Scoop.it

Follow latest updates at twitter.com and www.facebook.com North-east Japan has been swamped by a major tsunami - and the entire Pacific region is now on alert. It was caused by an 8.9-magnitude earthquake that struck 130 kilometres off the eastern coast - sending a reported 10-metre wall of water inland, causing widespread devastation. 61 people are confirmed dead - but that number's expected to rise. The wave has also reached Russia's Kuril islands to the north, reportedly around a metre high. In Japan, 200 people have reportedly been washed away, with several others missing in Japan's Sendai city. Tokyo's been all-but shut down - with fires and injuries widely reported there. Millions are without electricity. Norita International Airport is also closed. 20 powerful aftershocks have been recorded since the first quake, which was the strongest ever recorded in Japan - and the 6th biggest-ever. An earthquake has now been felt in Hawaii - measuring 4.5 - with tsunami waves expected within a few horus.

FlipQuiz | Gameshow-style Quiz Boards for Educators

FlipQuiz | Gameshow-style Quiz Boards for Educators | Living Life | Scoop.it

FlipQuiz™ was created to provide educators with a quick way to create gameshow-style boards for test reviews in the classroom. Traditionally, these are created (tediously) using posterboard, chalkboards, or dry-erase markers on an overhead slide. The review questions are usually even written on a separate sheet of paper.

Bring Your Own Device Toolkit

Bring Your Own Device Toolkit | Living Life | Scoop.it

Today’s education system is evolving to take full advantage of the potential of mobile technology devices to inspire learning and create independent, critical thinkers. However, with tight budgets, many schools are hoping to bring technology into the classroom without the costly burden of purchasing a device for each student. One potential solution that is being explored is BYOD, or Bring Your Own Device. This allows students to bring their personal laptops, tablets, and smartphones from home and use them for educational applications in the classroom. At a time when budgets are shrinking, school districts are considering BYOD programs to integrate cost-effective technology into their educational programs. It’s a promising idea, especially for schools that lack sufficient technology budgets. BYOD takes advantage of the technology that students already own and are familiar with. However, BYOD programs have been met with some criticism from staff and administrators who believe the challenges outweigh the perceived benefits.
