Rwanda: Desperate Musicians Turn to Witchcraft for Fame and Riches

Rwanda: Desperate Musicians Turn to Witchcraft for Fame and Riches | living fabulously in these worst of times | Scoop.it
It sounded like a bad joke when I was told to do an investigative story on the thriving witchcraft in the entertainment industry. This followed a tip from a reliable source that musicians have resorted to witchcraft to stave off competition and earn a fortune. According to a reliable source, musicians who want to make it are flocking a certain shrine in Nyamirambo, a city suburb to get charms that will make them super stars over night and for the struggling artistes to make it without a hustle.

South Beach Santeria: Decapitated goat, 3 headless chickens wash up behind Miami Beach condo

South Beach Santeria: Decapitated goat, 3 headless chickens wash up behind Miami Beach condo | living fabulously in these worst of times | Scoop.it

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Four animals, which had been decapitated and thrown into Biscayne Bay, washed up behind a South Beach condo Sunday morning.

Animal activist Richard Couto, a founder and investigator of the Animal Recovery Mission, fished the carcasses of the decapitated goat and three chickens out of the water behind The Floridian condominium on West Avenue and waited for the sanitation department to remove the animals.

Couto speculated that the animals had been killed as part of a Santeria or Palo Mayombe ritual.

A blend of Roman Catholicism and West African religious beliefs, Santeria revolves around the worship of saints. Followers of Palo Mayombe petition the spirits of the dead.  Cuoto says Palo Mayombe is becoming more popular in South Florida.

The Miami Beach police told the paper they were not investigating the animals’ deaths because they did not seem like a threat toward an individual...

Is @Essence the @essencefest #streetstylein #Dumbo #Brooklyn the New #BamdanceAfrica and #IAAF - Searching  to define  #Blackfashion #Aesthetic show lack of strong black fashon resource informaton. I've been obseving these since the1990"s and not much  has really "Changed" except the  number of people attending them. Moreso the longterm effect on teh  busiensses is questionable... a revolving door of "stars" and new talent, cheap deals and Fashion favorites.

I can easily  substitue my iages from 2003 0r 2006 and no one would  know teh difference

The hair on the other hand 100% Black!

These #Street #style #Festival  often show how well local black designers are known and or supported. The irony is  that at  these events #Conscious Blacks often sport  Asian made good, bastardized take on "African" Style  or layered generic  mass produced and "cheap" clothing. All while proclaiming to support  #Black Fashion and style,

it's time this is changed.. at the least  wear black at these events!

Yemaya, The Mother of Earth

Yemaya, The Mother of Earth | living fabulously in these worst of times | Scoop.it

It is now the 21st century and scholars, scientist, and anthropologist now agree that humanity started in Africa. In fact, everyone in the human race can trace his or her lineage back to our mitochondria mother in Africa. This mitochondria mother is known as Yemaya in Santeria.

She is known as Yemoja in Yoruba. She is also known as Yemanja in Brazil and many other parts of Europe.

There are thousands of stories, great myths, and legends about the African goddess. In Yoruba, she was known as the river goddess.

However, she became the Yoruba deity of the ocean during the Mid Atlantic Slave Trade when millions of captives appealed to her for guidance and support. Slowly, she became the Orisha who presided over the oceans.
