Liver disease at 'unprecedented levels' as one in four adults found to have organ damage

Liver disease at 'unprecedented levels' as one in four adults found to have organ damage | Liver Cancer | Scoop.it

A recent nationwide initiative launched by the British Liver Trust gave the public free access to specialist equipment used to detect the signs of liver disease for a short period of time.

A device known as the Fibroscan was used to image the liver in adults and the results as reported are very concerning. A far greater number of adults had an abnormal liver scan than anticipated. When it is known that chronic liver disease can lead to ill health, a later requirement for liver transplantation and even death the implications of these findings are clear.

So do you take care of you liver? If you are unsure you can also check out the http://www.loveyourliver.org.uk web site.
