“Murder in Amsterdam”

“Murder in Amsterdam” | Listenings | Scoop.it
Ian Buruma's riveting account of the killing of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh by a Muslim extremist shows how a clash between European Enlightenment values and Muslim fundamentalism is ripping Dutch society apart.
Jeff Makana's insight:
Am in support of the Akasha family, recently met a widow from their family and very saddened how the real drug barrons(Haroun Mwau and the likes) are walking in Kenya scotfree with impunity while others are used to give the international community a false carrot face to seem to be curbing drug trade and proliferation of small arms. Jennifer Salma Gibon You are in my prayers and will amplify your cause. May God protect the orphaned children and may God bless you and yours, it was a pleasure to meet you and humbled at the lengths you went to helping me without revealing that you even spoke Swahili.! Hope you feeling better.!

Is living in Italy as good as living in the United States?

Is living in Italy as good as living in the United States?

Susan Pohl Susan Pohl, former Executive coach Answered Jun 12

I have lived in Italy for four years. Before that I lived mainly in northern California, I would agree with the previous answer, and would add in a few things. For a working person, I think the US is still the “"land of opportunity.”

There is nothing, so far, like Silicone Valley’s culture and risk/reward compensation system, and ease of bringing innovative ideas to market.

As I tell my Italian friends, however, there is a big price to pay in stress, family relationships, and time. If it is the period in your life when it is about the money and productivity, there is nowhere like the US. If, on the other hand, money is not the most important thing, than there is no place like Italy.

For many Americans, it is difficult to remember that money is not the most important thing in Italian culture, Hence, shops are closed in the middle of the day, young people are loathe to relocate from the family, and artisanship is valued above whether it is marketable. Because of the Italian life style, great food, wine, people, art and beauty of the countryside, I would say living in Italy is better than living in the US for retired people, but then I am a bit prejudice.

Very beautiful hospitals! Feels like a tropical environment in the summer. Trees similar to some we see in Cardinal Otunga High School!
