Interesting piece. Walt Wolfram appears and gives some input to the issue. What is most interesting is all the Folk views on lingusitics below! Many of them preaching doomsday: We will all speak one language with one accent! Another common theme is that these non standard varities are "uneducated" and if they were to try hard enough they could change the way they speak to sound like they were educated... Interesting!
