iBooks not only speaks the selection but it can also highlight text in different colors and create notes. Great way to provide the tools for using reading strategies to electronic text. Creating ePub books in apps like Pages, Creative Book Builder allows you to create your own texts for students. ![]()

This seems like a great way not only to save on paper but also for last minute changes in ideas and critical information. This technology could be used to great lengths in a classroom, students would be able to reuse books, highlighting and taking notes on new information without having to worry about the presence of old notes and highlighter. This could also prompt many students into reading faster if they are aware of being able to make additions or classifying important information.
It could however prove costly for parents or the school if this system were to become mandatory. It may also come into conflict if students need to take these books into an exam situation, and may not be able to take in an e-reader or iPad.

This is a useful workshop for Special education teachers to learn more about digital technologies to support special needs students. Integrating technology into is an important aspect when supporting students in a special education classroom. Special education teachers develop students ICT capabilities through exposing students to adapt to new ways of doing things as technologies evolve (ACARA, 2013). Students learn to use ICT effectively and appropriately to access, create and communicate information and ideas, solve problems and work collaboratively, and in their lives beyond school. Consequently development of this capability is achieved through effectively engaging students in learning to make the most of the digital technologies available to them (ACARA, 2013)

I am absolutely loving Skype in the Classroom - there are hundreds of projects on there, and Skype works to help make the connection between people wanting to present to students and the classroom. Very cool!

A clever literacy station activity, that implements technology in the way of Ipads. Very simple, suitable for younger and older students alike to practice their skills with a common found technology resources in classrooms today.

Hi Sophie, I just viewed this resource and found it to be very clever. Activity stations are a popular and fun way to get students actively engaged in the task. This is a technologically creative way for students to showcase and explain their work instead of just drawing and writing in their notebooks.

t’s an age-old saying, “Give a man a fish, and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and feed him for a lifetime.” What separates good teachers from the excellent ones? The excellent ones are handing out fishing poles; creating a culture in the classroom of independence and self-reliance. These students don’t just recite facts or regurgitate information- they have learned how to learn. They know that if the answer isn’t in front of them, they have the tools to do the investigation and research. So how do you cultivate a culture of “I can…” in your classroom? |

is sad to see how people just refer to it as "Africa" when every part has its own name. Even myself don't know many of them since they are irrelevant for the western people. ![]()

This interactive map does a great job of not only showing the sate of political struggles and military conflict within the whole of Africa. This shows the new countries many dissidents and rebels wish to establish in order to give their people a cultural and ethnic home land. This give a good picture of simply how chaotic some parts of Africa truly are and how destabilized many regions are.

This mercator puzzle was especially interesting. It illustrated how various countries look on a mercator map compared to other maps.
