This website would be beneficial for teachers who are beginning to plan a unit on place value. Through this website teachers are able to communicate with others about potential ideas, share successful lesson plans and voice issues they may have/are currently facing.

Long before he became superintendent of public instruction, John Huppenthal was on a mission to improve learning in Arizona classrooms.

 

It started about 20 years ago when he was on the state Senate Education Committee. Huppenthal said he would sit for hours in the Arizona State University library basement researching how the brain learns. An engineer by training, Huppenthal said it was the scientist in him that drove him to seek a new way to instill motivation, confidence and the joy of learning into students.

 

The answer, he said, is a computer game. Specifically, FreeThrows. (See More)
