Superintendent Chaudhry Aslam, dubbed “Pakistan's toughest cop” was well known throughout the country for his aggressive pursuit of criminals and Islamic militants alike.
Leo Norton's insight:

It's a shame that someone as important as this has died trying to stop the taliban. With this man dead the taliban could gain a lot of power. Hopefully someone else will step up to the plate to take over.

Leo Norton's insight:

It is good that this kid was suspended. If any sort of weapon is brought on campus it could be seen as dangerous. Even if he didnt do anything that time in the futrue he could, which is why its good that the cops followed up on the situation.

Leo Norton's insight:

I think that although the man was commiting a crime his defence was valid. He probably is lieing but their is not any proof that shows he could tell who it was. There are several people that would do the same thing if someone broke into there house if theres no light and it happens while there sleeping.

If you doubt the unfairness of our country's criminal justice system, look no further than Hamedah Hasan.
Leo Norton's insight:

i think that taking funds from law enforcement is a bad idea. When you take funds it puts more strain on the criminal justice system. Thisin turn can make the area less safe.

Leo Norton's insight:

I think if your a cop you should be able to kep your cool at all times. I think that this officer reacted in a non-professional manner and shouldnt of murdered the homeless man. I think what makes it more suspicious is how many officers they needed to subdue him. You shouldnt need 6 police officers to subdue 1 homeless man.

I feel like it is wrong that someone would misuse the police like this. After reading this article i myself would trust a police officer less than normal. I think people need to be carefull of things like this because police disguises probably happen more often then is noticed.

The city is well on its way to becoming a capital of surveillance.

Via Thomas Faltin
Leo Norton's insight:

The new surveillance network is very advanced. I see the issues of privacy it could create. With the police watching you constantly in public some one could feel like their life is very public. Although it does take some sense of privacy from every person's life the surveillance program could cause a major decrease in crime if used correctly. I feel like the program should b kept up for a few years and then re-assessed to see how affective it is.

Richard Platt's curator insight, November 19, 2013 10:49 AM

(from the Curator of IoT & Wearables): Seattle Police are seemingly very unwise to keep doing this, this is tolerated in the UK and EU but in the US this will liklely back fire and be a huge PR hit down the road.

The justification is that one kid's saved life justifies taking away implied privacy, what do you think?

I think it is good that some guns are being taken away. Alot of guns are not use-full such as large automatic rifles. They arn't needed for hunting and you don't need them for protection.

This article shows how different the police can be in other country's. Its a good thing our country is not as currupt as this. Police shouldn't do things like this because i feel like its completly against the reasons you would join law enforcement.

Leo Norton's insight:

These systems should be updated. Without an update the law enforcement agency in this area is crippled. The system makes them slower and puts them behind, also I think that the longer they wait to update the system the more it will cost.
