USDA privatizing inspection of poultry, products is being allowed to proceed, even through records show scabs, feathers, bile, sores and digestive tract tissue often remain in poultry carcasses.The USDA's Food and Safety and Inspection Service project covers chicken and turkey slaughter inspections. Reports from pilot program plants indicate their employees performing inspections are properly trained, or lack the authority, for taking the necessary steps for taking unsafe poultry products from leaving the factory.

A fire destroyed a chicken house at a Fairmont farm and killed more than 20,000 chickens. Investigators are trying to determine if it was an accident or arson. The fire was reported just after 6:30 a.m. on Friday. A investigator name Duelworth said firefighters from Fairmont Rural and Whitehouse departments battled the fire for hours and hours. The 12-year-old building was one of the four chicken houses in that area that belonged to Stephen Dent. This downfall will damage their money that their getting from their bussiness partners.
