Advice given to leaders is too often based on the ideal world, not reality.
george_reed's insight:
I disagree with Professor Pfeffer in the sense that the problem might be that the leadership industry has not taken hold in most organizations. It's not that their approaches have failed, it's that they haven't made their way into businesses. Leadership is just not a construct that most organizations have put much time and effort into.
