Stripper101 Blog - New Program in UK Inadvertently Helps Pole Dance Studio's!

Stripper101 Blog - New Program in UK Inadvertently Helps Pole Dance Studio's! | Las Vegas Bachelorette Parties | Scoop.it

Now thanks to a program in the UK, Aimee is going to be able to take her experience and expertise and contribute to small local studios to help ensure they can weather the ups and downs of this newly emerging industry.

Newcastle based Ms. Lawson says of the program, “I was forced to learn everything about my business from the mistakes I have made. If a mentor had given me the support and guidance I was missing, I could have saved myself a lot of time, money and headaches.

“It’s for that very reason that I wanted to complete the training with Get Mentoring. I get a great deal of satisfaction in helping others to achieve things too.”

The program is called “Get Mentoring”, and is government funded to train 1,000’s of volunteers to help assist small businesses so they may stay afloat. Along with the programs value for every type of business, it will be especially interesting to see how many local instructors turn out to help support fellow pole studios. As pole sports continue to gain popularity we can almost guarantee to see an influx of Pole Sport enthusiasts taking advantage of more and more programs as the demand continues to get stronger and more pole studios keep popping up in rural and suburban areas.

Studies have shown that 70% of businesses supported by Newcastles’ local mentoring program have succeeded for 5 years or more compared to non-mentored companies. But the craze is definitely gaining momentum, even celebrity Jennifer Anniston is apparently taking advantage of all the perk that come along with Pole fitness. But it’s no surprise as apparently one hour of dancing on the pole burns up to 250 calories, and that’s equal to a hard workout at the gym! Taking regular classes is guaranteed to build upper body strength and tone muscles all around the legs and thighs and especially the stomach!

But as popularity grows in the UK, the US and the rest of Europe are following similar paths, as more studios pop up and more studio owners become respected members of the business community they are helping other businesses in less receptive communities keep their doors open. But this confidence boosting workout is popular all across the world, with the Ms. Head Over Heels Contest in Cary, NC right around the corner, America is about to get another taste of the newest fitness craze as the Southern Regional Pole Sport Finals commence in February.

So whether you are a dedicated Pole Enthusiast or just looking for a fun night out with friends, our “Stripper 101” classes will introduce you to the basics of Pole fitness in a truly Las Vegas Fashion! Pole Sports For A Good Cause!

Pole Sports For A Good Cause! | Las Vegas Bachelorette Parties | Scoop.it
Pole fitness enthusiasts have again defied public perception through the gathering of charity funds for homeless shelters and other organizations. But in recent years as Pole Sport studios have popped up all over Europe and the US, it’s hard now to ignore the potential impact the sport could have. In Dayton Ohio, one enthusiast has helped to propel the sport forward in her community through spreading awareness of the benefits of vertical dance! Geneva Duncan isn’t confused about how many consider the activity “Low Brow”, but now in her community she says there are around 700 students involved with her studio and the perception hasn’t gotten any better. On a constant mission to educate the public against adopting what she refers to as “Cave-Man” mentality, she wants to stress the benefits against a traditional gym routine.

Boosting confidence, while lengthening, toning and strengthening muscle, pole fitness is the only sport guaranteed to build muscle as well as a type of confidence that can’t be replicated with any other fitness routine. The students aren’t your typical crowd that you would expect either as there are mothers, nurses, army vets, teachers and doctors to name a few. All aged around 30 years old, the “shorts and shirt” atmosphere is beginning to draw a number of everyday exercise enthusiasts into trying this edgy new form of getting fit! But the studios try to give back to the community to eliminate that “low Brow” perception I talked about earlier, and some organizations still lift their nose at the idea of funds coming from such a sport.

Like Sian Young, owner of “Soul Pole” fitness studio, who managed to raise over 1,000 dollars to help a local charity fund which helps homeless women who have been abused or have runaway. Sian came up with the idea that if they developed a pole fitness calendar fully clothed, all the risqué perception would be out the window. Unfortunately that was just not true, as “The Cyrenians” organization claimed they appreciated the offer, “Soul Pole” did not fall in line with their ethical views and the fact that they help women who have been harmed or abused in a number of situations. Apparently the owner had not even viewed the calendar. Sadly this perception still precedes the sport as it claws its way to be considered by the Olympic Committee to be an officially sanctioned Olympic event, and it’s going to be brave studio owners like Sian Young and Geneva Duncan, who herself has held a number of Pole Dancing marathons to raise money for charities the students themselves choose. It will be these business women and instructors who continue to pacify the sport from its cloudy roots that will have to continually provide women with a comfortable atmosphere to experience the positive mental, emotional and physical benefits of pole fitness, while constantly striving to correct their image continually through charities and awareness campaigns.

Say Hello to The Infamous Chinese Pole Routine!

Say Hello to The Infamous Chinese Pole Routine! | Las Vegas Bachelorette Parties | Scoop.it

Exotic Dancing is obviously the first thing you think about when you hear the words “Pole Dancing”. But did you know the pole dance was originally developed as a circus act long before 12 AD? It was originally called the “Chinese Pole”, and involved precise acrobatics and masterful balance. Often taking girls years to come close to even involving the pole in their routine, and usually involving men. Reminiscent of martial arts, some of the positions involve grace one has to practice long to master. Since most acts require more than one participant, you can see how the Chinese pole is a drastically different routine than what modern exotic dancers perform. While a modern exotic dancer might have little to no training, they rely for the most part on looks. The latter is not true of the original art form, where the success of your routine relies solely on your skill as an aerialist.

The old form usually contained a pole about 3-6 meters in length, to which a team of acrobats create flawless patterns in the air centered around the main pole. Some routines made effective impressions by locking the team in what looked like an impossible pose held together only by the center of gravity present in the pole. It really is one of the historical mysteries of how this perilous form of art became centered around exotic dancing. But the rumor goes that traveling fairs in the southern United States that catered specifically to miners and laborers would set up camp for a week at a time outside of different towns. The camp would consist of a few tents with different attractions to try and squeeze the last pennies from a poor worker, one such attraction was a small tent usually on the outside of the fair with dancing women inside. A makeshift stage would be set up, and the women would dance and make up their own routines centered around the tent pole in the center of the structure while dirty poor men shouted cat calls in a historic fashion.

Seems about right, so it turns out the modern exotic form of pole dancing actually has little to nothing to do with the ancient circus act. Shocking, but at least the past 15 years have been good to the original culture, as there seems to be a slow revival of the old form of the act and its actually turning into a mix of Solo Pole performance melded with today’s most popular dances. Pretty post modern right? The National pole Dancing federation has had no problem with this new revival either, as it seems more women than ever are being turned on by the idea of learning something sexy while quickly getting fit! But to this day, the old Chinese Pole Dance is still widely performed by master acrobats and aerialists, and competitions can be found the world over to see who can develop the more complicated and illusory routine. So next time the idea of learning this timeless form of dance crosses your mind, imagine yourself hanging ten feet in the air holding onto a pole with your bare feet while an audience cheers you on, on second thought maybe you can just learn the normal way. .

South America Crowns Her 2013 Vertical Dance Regional Champion!

South America Crowns Her 2013 Vertical Dance Regional Champion! | Las Vegas Bachelorette Parties | Scoop.it

Well the world pole sport championships ended earlier this November, and while the fight for vertical dance to be represented in the Olympics rages on, regional competitions for next year’s world championships are now officially under way starting with South America. Argentina hosted this year’s regional contest in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires, and for the first time in the South American chapter’s history, men were permitted to compete to represent in the men’s category at the world competition. A historical first, and a sign of how truly popular vertical dance is becoming.

While the sport continues to invade gyms and studios across the world, more and more regional contests are emerging as official branches of the world pole sport federation. But now we are in a place where we can accurately see where the trend is going, as far as what nationality will reign supreme. So far it’s leaning heavy towards Russia, with a huge number of gymnasts and athletes hailing from Russia and its surrounding provinces, East European contestants have taken the contest more than once since its inception in 2009. As the United States appears to be falling behind, it’s more of an image issue with the sport. In Russia this type of dance is becoming far more mainstream and less taboo than what we make it here in the States and Europe. Whereas most would associate the art form with exotic dancing in the U.S., East Europeans are beginning to accept it as a fusion between gymnastics and dance, and treat the form with respect. While not shunning the idea, here in America the idea is far less conceivable as a future to gymnasts and other athletes. At least until the idea of pole sports are finally involved in the Olympics, America isn’t going to see a whole lot of its most skilled gymnasts and dancers practicing to win the world pole dancing championships.

But it’s inevitable, and it appears other nations will have the jump on the US when the time comes to officially represent the American flag at the Olympics, but for now the United States still holds onto a number of the world’s most skilled dancers and some of them have capitalized on teaching contest level vertical dance in studios and gyms to the next generation of competitors. But in Buenos Aires the contest has been decided, and next year’s South America contestant in the world competition will be the skilled and graceful Rafaela Montanaro, who hails from Brazil. One of the more interesting sites would have been the street of Buenos Aires before the contest, where hundreds of dancers converged and used street furniture and light fixtures to demonstrate their skills to the public! Think of it as an international pole sport street festival! But as the next round of competitors the world over prepare to represent their nation in regional finals, the pressure for 2013 is on as Ms. Montanaro displayed some extremely impressive feats of coordination and balance, giving a preview of the intensity of the contest to come for 2013!
