Intel Open Sources NLP Architect

Intel Open Sources NLP Architect | Language Tech Market News | Scoop.it

Intel AL Lab has open-sourced a library of natural language processing tools which will be a help to developers creating chatbots and building skills for virtual assistants. It is one of several AI resources made available since Intel AI Lab was launched last year. It includes:
- NLP core models that allow robust extraction of linguistic features for NLP workflow: for example, dependency parser and NP chunker
- NLU modules that provide best in class performance:for example, intent extraction (IE), name entity recognition (NER)
- Modules that address semantic understanding: for example, colocations, most common word sense, NP embedding representation (e.g. NP2V)
- Components instrumental for conversational AI: for example, ChatBot applications, including dialog system, sequence chunking, and IE

- End-to-end DL applications using new topologies: for example, Q&A, machine reading comprehension

@Langnet Using @Blockchain to Build Voice Data Sharing Solution

At LangNet we are building an open source ecosystem of language data and resources so more companies and developers can start building for new languages, dialects and uses cases. While open source resources may not always be sufficient for fully optimized, commercial grade systems, they should start to address the data sparsity problem that today makes it very expensive to take on projects in new languages and domains. In turn, accessible data and broader participation should result in faster innovation cycles and more interesting, useful apps across more languages and markets.

LT-Innovate's insight:

Keep en eye open for new langtech-related blockchain projects in fields such as translation data and voice data

@Rasa Community Update: 30,000+ downloads, 300+ members on Gitter and 40+ contributors

@Rasa Community Update: 30,000+ downloads, 300+ members on Gitter and 40+ contributors | Language Tech Market News | Scoop.it
Rasa NLU started as a wrapper around open source NLP backends such as spaCy or MITIE to make it much simpler for developers to build their own NLU. Now it’s evolved into a robust, scalable, thoroughly tested code base that’s run in production by all sorts of companies. Through all the feedback from our community, we’ll continue to invest into research and development to push the boundaries of conversational software.

Common Voice: Mozilla Is Creating An Open Source Speech Recognition System

Common Voice: Mozilla Is Creating An Open Source Speech Recognition System | Language Tech Market News | Scoop.it
Mozilla has launched a new open source project named Common Voice. It’s a speech recognition system that relies on online volunteers to submit their voice samples and validate the submitted samples. Mozilla aims to collect 10,000 hours of samples for speech recognition training.
LT-Innovate's insight:

Yet another attempt to capture lots of speech data at low cost. Google did this some years ago via the telephone. Can't anyone find the initial funding and imagination in the EU to collect lots of speech data in 50 or so languages?

Why the Future of the Translation Industry Will Be Open Source

Why the Future of the Translation Industry Will Be Open Source | Language Tech Market News | Scoop.it

We envision a platform where translators can see and accept available projects, apply MT tools directly, and collaborate inside the document with editors and other translators. Likewise, an organization’s managers would work within that platform, and even clients would receive translations in the platform. Essentially, we’re imagining a collaborative platform that would be to existing translation management tools what Google Docs was to Office
And once again, we envision collaboration as being the key element: At the workflow level, where friction between translator and editor disappears, and at the industry level, where developers iterate and build on top of communal software
