That was not the result of pressure from young people, who seemed to drop Kony as a cause just as swiftly as they elevated him.
Marcus Hamlin's insight:

the fact that kony still gets brought up and it relevant today shows that the group invisible children did not do their job in tracking him down to stop his madness. this article ties in with the "kony 2012" swindled people out of their money article. even though they had a great idea to help out and stop a man of his magnitude of madness was a good choice to do with every intention but it came down to the end of things it was a scheme of greed.

Kony 2012 and The Power of Social Media

Kony 2012 and The Power of Social Media | kony 2012 | Scoop.it
How Kony 2012 Saw Success Through Social Media...
Marcus Hamlin's insight:

the impact of social media can have on a topic of this matter. if it wasn't for twitter this may have taking longer than it did for the world to find out about the video from invisible children. social media today has become so much more a part of each and every person's daily life. everyone uses some sort of social media outlet, I myself have three that I use and check on a daily basis. I know some people that have five that stay with their hand and faces glued to their phones all day long. it makes it easier to get information out compared to having to make a phone call to everyone or mail out a mass letter.

'Kony 2012' and the forgotten conflict in the Central African Republic ... | kony 2012 | Scoop.it
central african republicj CAR is believed to be the hiding place of Joseph Kony, the world's most notorious rebel leader, but this desperately poor country remains largely unknown. 'Kony 2012' focused on northern Uganda ...
Marcus Hamlin's insight:

The Central African Republic was seeking help to get rid of Kony to help solve their issues. Most people got deeply involved with helping to do what they could from afar to get others involved with them as well. The UN even got involved helping to raise money to help fund the operation to get rid of Kony. The impact that one man and his followers actions can truly impact a global uprise to show togetherness on matters like this. In some cases people will not come together within their own communities. But matters like this show how humanity can set their differences aside to get what they want accomplished for the better of a society.

Marcus Hamlin's insight:

from my last post this goes to show that the older generations do not believe that the younger generations know what it is that they talk about especially when dealing with matters as such.  But being close in age it makes it easy to understand what is it is that they are dealing with.  claiming that the 20 year olds that started the post to show the world what was going on in Africa being so young they were wanting to inform the world of the horrible actions that one man is doing to the youth of a country. they know what is was that they were doing to show the world that the youth is knowledgeable with matters of such.

The hunt for Mr.
Marcus Hamlin's insight:

Kony became a celebrity not in good fashion based off his actions against the youth in Africa. With gathering the youth of America together having them hold protest and "painting" of cities with "Stop Kony"  posters. All of the hype of Kony even got the president to send military aid to help hunt Kony down and hold him accountable for his actions. Personally I seen something's that may have shown to me that the entire Kony project was a phase that faded out shortly after tons of people sent money to help fund the action to stop kony.

Noted public masturbator and stealer-of-charity-money Jason Russell of the questionable organization Invisible Children is back with a new campaign, his latest after the now infamous Kony 2012 fiasco and bizarre public ...
Marcus Hamlin's insight:

this is another view from the other side of the fence where people talk about how the non-profit group of invisible children swindled people out of their money that they donated to help fund the project of stopping kony. I at one point felt the same way about the way the article speaks on how they took the money and walked away with it. that is the main reason why i didn't give any donations, it seemed odd that they were asking for the money.

Remember Kony 2012?
Marcus Hamlin's insight:

researchers talking polls from 217 Americans 38 undergraduates and 179 adults that did the online poll. to get the opinion of the older generations input on what it is they think about the problems with a man taking children and turning them into soldiers at a young age.starting an uproar about it, children should be able to live their young lives to have fun and run around and play all day instead of being forced into war, or having to carry around a weapon. it seems so unreal that to think that these kids are the same age of my nephews just imagining that my some child the same age as my nephew is running around carrying a ak-47 or a pistol. not only is it unreal but it is a scary thing as well.

What happened to KONY 2012?

Invisible Children is hosting The Fourth Estate Leadership Summit on August 8-11, 2013 in Los Angeles, CA. To learn more and apply visit: http://spr.ly/4E_ma...
Marcus Hamlin's insight:

the invisible children recap of what all took place with what they did with their efforts to make their voices heard about a troubling topic. being 20 years old they did something that most if not all 20 year olds don't even think about doing of taking something that is happening in a whole other country and shed light on it to the nation. I know that when i was 20 years old i didn't think of doing anything of that nature.  So being that the 20 year olds took on such a task to inform everybody about this is huge.

Marcus Hamlin's insight:

This is the video that sent the youth of the world into an uproar about the kony project. showing that the youth can come together about world issues. Even though people of older generations do not care to hear what it is that we as youth have to say about something. Possibly due to the fact that they are older and have lived longer and been through more in their lives then what we have seen so far. But being a youth you could feel for the youth of Africa that were being put through all of the heart aches and problems over there. So it made the youth very empathetic for the youth of Africa, thats what made the youth come together forming protest to get our voices out and heard around the communities nation and world wide.
