In social learning theory, to know is to be capable of participating with the requisite competence in the complex web of relationships among people, artifacts and activities. A social learning theory emphasizes informality, improvisation, collective action, conversation, and sense-making; and learning is of a distributed and provisional nature. 
How then, does one ensure that participation goes beyond merely clicking on the Like button...how does one enable institutionalization of tacit knowledge. And provide a dynamic environment in which social learning plays an active role in transforming tacit knowledge into explicit....some thoughts.

The categorization of information tools into one that enable collaboration (Flow) and the other that enable storage (capture) is becoming less relevant today, as most capture tools are also providing capability to collaborate.  However this does provide the ability to look at tools where information is continuously flowing through and you can dip into it at any point in time without seemingly losing context, as opposed to something that is more contextual - more pull than push.
