Has the war in Iraq made America safer? - 2012 Presidential Election - ProCon.org

Has the war in Iraq made America safer? - 2012 Presidential Election - ProCon.org | Kelsey Finck's Political Opinion | Scoop.it

(International Relations)

Althought the war in Iraq has devastated some citizens of America, I believe it has benefited our country as a whole because it has provided us with more definite security by keeping Iraq occupied and distracted. There hasn't been many terroristic threats or issues since our troops have been shipped over to Iraq because many problems have been solved. Mitt Romney feels the same, therefore I agree that it is benefiting our country in the end.

Do most labor unions provide an overall benefit to their workers in the US? - 2012 Presidential Election - ProCon.org

Do most labor unions provide an overall benefit to their workers in the US? - 2012 Presidential Election - ProCon.org | Kelsey Finck's Political Opinion | Scoop.it

(Labor Laws)

I agree with Romney's view on Laboring Laws because I do not think that workers in America benefit from this, I think it is actually a drastic disadvantage for our country due to the fact job rates decrease and the labor difficulty increases. Therefore, it will be a higher and more competitive in the job market and will create higher prices and a more tense atmosphere for America.

Should the United States build additional nuclear plants? - 2012 Presidential Election - ProCon.org

Should the United States build additional nuclear plants? - 2012 Presidential Election - ProCon.org | Kelsey Finck's Political Opinion | Scoop.it

(Energy)

Jill Stein believes that the use of Nuclear Plants have more negative effects than positive effects. Using Nuclear Plants does not benefit American people because it creates a widespread effect of health issues including lung problems, infections, and even death. After all, although the plants may be the cheaper way out in creating energy and easier to plant more throughout the country, in the long run it will be more expensive for the medical bills of the people affected from the burning smoke from the plants than it would be for an alternative idea.

Should K-12 teachers get tenure? - 2012 Presidential Election - ProCon.org

Should K-12 teachers get tenure? - 2012 Presidential Election - ProCon.org | Kelsey Finck's Political Opinion | Scoop.it

(Education)

"If a teacher is given a chance or two chances or three chances but still does not improve, there's no excuse for that person to continue teaching. I reject a system that rewards failure and protects a person from its consequences." -Barack Obama

I agree with Obama in the statement above, because I believe that if a teacher is not working to the best of their ability and are not teaching in a correct way, they should be fired even if they've worked there for many years. Regardless of how long they've been teaching, if they aren't doing their job, why should they continue to be payed and be locked in permanently with a teaching position? Teachers continued being tenured makes zero sense, and I think that they should simply be fired from their job if they cannot do their job right. Education is one of the most important factors in our country, and we should provide the students of America with the best knowledge they can receive.

Obama Endorses Gay Marriage; Romney Confirms His Views Against Gay Marriage - ProCon.org

Obama Endorses Gay Marriage; Romney Confirms His Views Against Gay Marriage - ProCon.org | Kelsey Finck's Political Opinion | Scoop.it

(Gay Marriage)

I agree with Obama's idea to legalize gay marriage because it is unconstitutional to be against the love of two people because of their gender. I believe that love is love, and there is no specific reason that it should be illegal because it does not effect anybody at all in a negative way. Many people feel that it should not be allowed in the United States simply because they have a different view on sexuality then the actual individuals effected by the law. They also feel that if it does not pertain to them they do not "need" it to be legalized. Each citizen of our country deserves equal rights regardless of what sex interests them. I think it is extremely wrong for people to even feel they have the right to display that they think it is wrong, although everyone is titled to their opinion, it does not negatively effect you so there is simply no reason to be against it.

The President's record on taxes

The President's record on taxes | Kelsey Finck's Political Opinion | Scoop.it

(Taxes)

-President Obama has cut taxes for every working American, saving the typical middle-class family $3,600 in taxes over his first term.

-Mitt Romney would have to raise taxes on middle-class families in order to pay for tax cuts for millionaires, costing the typical American family with kids $2,000 more each year.

I agree with Romney's taxing plan because he intends on keeping the same amount of taxation for each level of class. I think that is considered more fair because each class would be putting forward the same amount of money regardless of how poor or rich they are and regardless of their income. Also, the government should not determine how much money you put forward in taxes just by your job reflection and since we are involved in a capitalist system whatever we earn, we keep. Therefore, we would all only have to give a select amount without regarding which class bracket we are classified in. Romney claims that the middle class is being crushed and is being held responsible for each class' taxes, and they are stuck paying for the poor and rich more than they pay for themselves.

Should the US continue to build a physical barrier, such as a fence, along the US-Mexico border? - 2012 Presidential Election - ProCon.org

(National Defense)

"We need to utilize troops, fences, and other measures to stop the invasion from Mexico."

 -Virgil Goode

Yes, I believe that the United States should continue to guard the border with a physical fence of some sort, whether it is topped with barbwire or guards or hired. Virgil Goode states that he also thinks it is a good idea to keep the border because if it is taken down it could cause a great amount of danger for our country and their would be a flood of illegal immigrants feeding off our taxes and we would not be able to control it because we would technically be letting them in. I strongly emphasize that troops and armed guards block the border constantly, therefore whoever should not be allowed over has absolutely no way of getting over.

Romney on Immigration

(Immigration)

“I am a great proponent of legal immigration… Many of you are living proof of the unique strength of America that is constantly renewed by new Americans. The promise of America has brought some of the world’s best and brightest to our shores.”

-Mitt Romney

I agree with Romney because he believes that immigrants should be allowed to participate with life in our country, but will force all immigrants to learn our language, and go through a series of tests followed by a certificate proving they are a legal citizen of the United States. He also strongly believes that all illegal immigrants should be banned and not allowed to be sheltered in our country. Therefore, I support Romney's beliefs that all legal immigrants should be allowed here, and all illegal immigrants should not be part of our healthcare or living free on American's taxes.

Should all Americans have a right (be entitled) to basic health care? - 2012 Presidential Election - ProCon.org

Should all Americans have a right (be entitled) to basic health care? - 2012 Presidential Election - ProCon.org | Kelsey Finck's Political Opinion | Scoop.it

(Healthcare)

I agree with Obama's plan on providing each American citizen with a basic health care package simply because medical bills tend to be very expensive in some cases, and no individual should not be cared for in a hospital because they cannot pay for it. However, I believe the plan should strictly be for American citizens only, no illegal immigrants should be admitted in this plan because they will have to be payed for in the taxes of others who may not be able to afford it. Each person under this plan should have to present their birth certificate certifying that they are a member of our country, therefore we know our taxing money goes directly to the right causes.

Should most adults have the right to carry a concealed handgun? - 2012 Presidential Election - ProCon.org

Should most adults have the right to carry a concealed handgun? - 2012 Presidential Election - ProCon.org | Kelsey Finck's Political Opinion | Scoop.it

(Gun Rights)

I agree with Gary Johnson's view on Gun Rights because I believe an adult should be allowed to make the choice of owning a small handgun in their home, simply because you have no idea what sort of situation you may be trapped in when the weapon may be necessary. He also claims, "It was a new concept at the time, but I believed it would result in less crime - a fact borne out by the statistics." Evidently, his statement seems that it would reduce the crime level nationwide because more citizens would be armed with protection for themselves and their families. Every person deserves the right of self defense if it is used in the right way, and therefore adults should be allowed to own a gun for defense. There should be no issues if it is used in the right situations, and they obtain a license for the weapon.

Mitt Romney's Plan on Government Spending

Mitt Romney's Plan on Government Spending | Kelsey Finck's Political Opinion | Scoop.it

(Government Spending)

"Getting our fiscal house in order has become more than just an economic issue; it’s a moral imperative."

-Mitt Romney

I agree on Romney's plan for our government spending, because he has a possible system for distributing money in the right manner for our country. He also has a plan to get our nation out of our devastating and demolishing amounts of debt we owe.

"My plan seeks to reduce taxes, spending, regulation, and government programs. It seeks to increase trade, energy production, human capital, and labor flexibility."

I agree with Mitt Romney's Economic Plan because he claims that he will reduce taxes, spending, and almost all regulations. He plans on increases many areas also; such as larger trade, energy production, and has a way to make laboring flexibility possible.
