10 Ways to Use Technology to Build Vocabulary

10 Ways to Use Technology to Build Vocabulary | K-2 Literacy Instruction using Technology | Scoop.it
An eVoc strategy is an electronic or technology-based strategy that teachers can use to develop students' vocabulary learning and interest in words. We use the term eVoc both to highlight that the strategies rely on digital tools and resources and to suggest the evoking of learning potential that is possible when technology and media are part of the instructional mix.

The Biff, Chip and Kipper Interactive iPad Apps at Tettenhall College

The Biff, Chip and Kipper Interactive iPad Apps at Tettenhall College | K-2 Literacy Instruction using Technology | Scoop.it

I working week for me involves a mix of iPad Consultancy, app design and teaching. I teach at a Preparatory School in Wolverhampton, called Tettenhall College. The school provides education for 2-18 year olds and I teach predominantly in Key Stage 2 but also teach ICT to Key Stage 1 pupils. In the last 6 months I have collaborated with a new company called Gazoob.

Gazoob have introduced a range of educational content and the most exciting of this is the Biff, Chip and Kipper Interactive Book Apps. Most Primary schools in the country use the Oxford Reading Tree books to help pupils learn to read from an early age. At Tettenhall College, we have been lucky enough to use the Biff, Chip and Kipper Interactive Books this week. There are 6 iPad apps, each containing 8 books. The apps in essence re-create the books word for word and with the original illustrations. However, there are some nice interactive features, including 'read to me' which will read the stories to children and highlight the text as they read along. Each word can be touched to have it read aloud and some of the illustrations includes sound effects. Perhaps the greatest appeal to teachers will be the interactive activities that appear at the end of the books. This will help guided reading and group discussion. The app is designed not to replace the books but enhance the scheme, appeal to reluctant readers and to be used at home by parents with their children.

We are lucky at Tettenhall College that we have been able to form a partnership with Gazoob and use our technology with this new way of teaching reading skills.

Biff, Chip and Kipper will be released on the iPad in October. Visit www.gazoob.com for more information.

Es una aplicación potente y muy fácil de usar que nos permite crear clips de vídeo reproduciendo una historia  con frases de texto que hayamos ideado entre dos o más personajes.

El video final se puede compartir directamente en Google+ o como un enlace para cualquier sitio que deseemos (por desgracia, no se muestra una vista previa o miniatura cuando se trata de compartir vídeo creado con StoryBuilder en Facebook).

Una gran herramienta.

De uso libre. (No tenemos que registrarte o iniciar sesión para acceder a ella).
