Architects of Dreams: Anythink’s Pam Sandlian Smith on the Power of Children’s Librarians | School Library Journal | K-12 School Libraries | Scoop.it
Susan Grigsby @sksgrigsby's insight:

"When asked what kind of space they wanted, children talked about two types: one was collaborative, and the other resembled our tunnel or tree house. One young girl drew a picture of her preferred space. It resembled a submarine bubble, complete with a lamp for reading and a little table for snacks." - I wonder what kind of space our children will want? I personally think a submarine is cool.

Gamedesk's "Classroom of the Future." Why is it so hard to reinvent K-12 education? | K-12 School Libraries | Scoop.it
If we've learned anything from this month's series on ed-tech it's that changing centuries-old education traditions takes more than a touchscreen and good intentions. For all the exciting innovatio...
Susan Grigsby @sksgrigsby's insight:

Since the beginning of time, children have learned through imagination and play. It is only in the last 100 years or so that the system changed into the factory model of public education currently in place. Why is it so hard to reinvent? Stealth librarianship is a way of being. This particular edition of the manifesto applies to academic libraries. The principles of stealth librarianship apply to all branches of the profession, each in particular ways.
Susan Grigsby @sksgrigsby's insight:

Okay...this article was posted a little over 2 years ago but it is just as applicable today as it was when written. Love the bullet points - my most forward-thinking librarian friends have been saying (for years) that we need to move out of the echo chamber and into the world of our admins and our patrons. Stealth? Not really. But I love the way DuPuis talks about "infiltrating" our student communities.
