How animals predict earthquakes

How animals predict earthquakes | Just About Anything | Scoop.it

Climate impact risk 'on the rise'

Climate impact risk 'on the rise' | Just About Anything | Scoop.it

Citing climate change as a factor that is contributing to more extreme weather events has long been a field of scientific research shrouded in controversy.

Earlier this year areport said it had identified a link between an increase in greenhouse gas emissions and extreme rainfall events in the Northern Hemisphere.

While others had suggested that the global climate system - which shapes the planet's weather patterns - was too complex to make such assertions.

The shocking truth about Britain’s housing crisis | Snowblog

The shocking truth about Britain’s housing crisis | Snowblog | Just About Anything | Scoop.it
The housing charity Shelter estimates there is a shortage of a million homes in the UK. Why so little looting in Japan? The explanation is legal as much as cultural.

Why so little looting in Japan? The explanation is legal as much as cultural. | Just About Anything | Scoop.it
Big Bird in Japan knows the shorthand for Japanese culture: They're so honest and disciplined! They're a collective society! They value the group over the individual! Of course they're not going to steal anything after the most devastating natural disaster of their lifetimes—unlike those undisciplined thieves in post-Katrina New Orleans and post-earthquake Haiti. Even if they're desperate for food, the Japanese will still wait in line for groceries.
