joseph's insight:

The idea of hiring p.e teachers that travel around to different elementary schools in the area is a great idea, instead of having no p.e teachers at all. The fact that they are called p.e speacialists make it even cooler

This is a strong subject for me growing up i noticed girls usually arnt the ones to act out in class and have behavior problems. maybe the way this is approached will be a new factor. when i was little they just gave all the kids meds and said they have adhd. As a teacher i would try and build more of a relationship with the boys having a hard time in school and try to work with them for the better

Why the arts and arts teachers enrich schools
Atlanta Journal Constitution (blog)
University of Georgia professor Peter Smagorinsky has been writing a Great Georgia Teacher series for the blog.
joseph's insight:

Fine arts to me are important in schools its helps students learn how to be creative and think out side the box. Creating clubs and things for kids to do after school is a good way to keep them ingaged in school. I think art teachers could mention to their students that peices of art can be submitted in to art shows or compitition this could help the students want to push and be better in the class

The research comes as a company plans to test the fitness levels of First, Second and Third Year pupils.
joseph's insight:

A p.e teachers job should be to show how to maintain a healthy balance of fitness in ones life. This fitness testing is good because kids that dont quite meet the standard might want to work to get better and improve their fitness level then the p.e teacher showing them how to do so with out over working or injuring them selves

joseph's insight:

Teachers in the state are having to pay alot more in healthcare and for the same services since the new plan in beginning of the new year. The petition signed by the 500 plus people has made some realize how the old plan was causing a deficit and the new plan is expected to save over 200 million annually. I think the pay raise the teachers of gorgia want would be a good idea kepping both sides happy

9 Mistakes Teachers Make Using Technology in the Classroom (9 Mistakes Teachers Make Using Technology in the Classroom http://t.co/O45ZmBwxEE)
joseph's insight:

If technology will be used in a great extent like every kid having i pads it will be harder to controll what the kids are doing. I think the idea in the passage of sending letters to parent on google docs instead of on paper is a great idea. i would figure more parents would get to see and be imformed that way. Also teachers need to figure out ways to make sure the students are on task and doing the school work the nine mistakes liseted are good ideas to follow

How Teachers Can Best Use Technology

How Teachers Can Best Use Technology | joe waters Teaching | Scoop.it
Technology is creating a revolution that could profoundly improve our schools, but getting digital learning right is more about the planning than the purchase order.

Via EDTECH@UTRGV
joseph's insight:

Technology i believe is a good tool for teaching to an extent. the switch from the old projector to the new elmo projector is for the better , students having access to cirtin websites to research for project and things can really help and offer information books might not be able. But like in the passage rules need to be set and followed by the students and blocked web sites like facebook and media websites is perfectly reasonble considering they will distract the student from doing their actual school work

Raising the standards or changing the way students learn is a good topic. some schools cant afford the new up to date technology that is offered now days making it harder for the students to learn the same ways as other schools do. changing the standards might result in teachers learning more material and possible teaching differently
