How Kids Lose Their Creativity As They Age (And How To Prevent It)

How Kids Lose Their Creativity As They Age (And How To Prevent It) | My Scoops | Scoop.it
Ever since the 1950s, children have undergone a test for tracking their creativity, in similar fashion to the IQ test. Professor E. Dr. Pat McGuire's curator insight, October 20, 2014 11:41 AM

When my children were small we spent a great deal of time being creative and playing the "what if" game to test out theories. That is not seen with children in my practice much anymore.  They are stuck in overly compartmentalized learning and playing.  Few of them know what to do if told to go outside.

We need to bring curiosity and creativity back into the forefront of child development and learning.  I see the loss of this as being as devastating as when children were told "Do it because I said so and don't ask questions."

6 Great tools for content curation - Daily Genius | My Scoops | Scoop.it

"I read recently that content curation is dead. I have a few different arguments against this concept, but for now, I’ll keep it short and sweet: Content curation is not dead, and while the debate over curating content online vs creating new content will rage on and on, curating content for other reasons is still going strong.

That said, there are a lot of different ways to go about content curation, so we’ve test driven a few different tools so you can figure out which might work best for you whether you’re curating content for work projects, assigning it as a school project, for your own professional development, or personal interests."

Secondly, I read so many blogposts entitled "10 tools for this" or "35 reasons for that". It is nice too see one of those where all of the 6 tools are actually great. Third, the fact that I actually have experience with three of the six tools makes me feel good. So enjoy :)

Naomi Assaraf's comment, October 1, 2014 12:24 PM
It think it's a healthy balance of about 80% curated vs 20% created content. Clearly, curated content makes up for much larger real estate on your social assets; but once you've attracted your audience, they need to know there's an engaging brain behind all that content curation. And that's precisely where the 20% of created content space plays an important role: letting your audience get to know your voice so that you can give them a chance to love you enough to keep them coming back for more.
