US HISTORY PROJECT - 25th Amendment

CLC US History Project: Splain - 9th period We do not claim to own any of the music or labels featured in the film!
Jack Estavanik's insight:

Larissa Sovcik stars in this wonderful short film as President Larissa, Marissa, Aryssa, and Larissa. This movie started as a simple school project, but with a shocking story about how the Twenty-Fifth Amendment works, the outcome is spectacular. Many character deaths will make you sad. The knowledge learned about this partiular Amendment is enough to make me want to watch it again and again. The biggest plot twist was one we found out the lady posioned the donut. That part made me want to scream and break my computer.

Old Tippecanoe Succumbs to Pneumonia--Doctors Bled Him (with Leeches)! Vice President John Tyler of Virginia Succeeds Harrison The Globe, Washington,
Jack Estavanik's insight:

Considered one of the worst Presidents ever. William Henry Harrison only lasted a month in office, until a case of pneumonia took him down. This ancient news paper article shows why he died and the "accomplishments" he made. Vice President Taylor took over the presidential role after his quick death. The worst president also used the 25th Amendment and it wasn't even there yet, wow!

President Roosevelt is Dead; Truman to Continue Policies

Jack Estavanik's insight:

Franklin D. Roosevelt died suddenly on April 12, 1945. The diagnosis was a cerebral hemorage. That basically means his brain was bleeding. Vice President Truman took oath less than two hours after his death. How fast the next person in line takes oath amazes me! This event, along with Abraham Lincoln's assassination were some reasons why the Twenty-Fifth Amendment was created.

What is the 25th Amendment and When Has It Been Invoked?

What is the 25th Amendment and When Has It Been Invoked? | Jack Estavanik-Twenty-Fifth Amendment | Scoop.it
Jack Estavanik's insight:

This webpage gives us the name of Presidents and tells us if the Twenty-Fifth Amendment affected them. President George H. W. Bush suffered from irregular heart beats and turned power over to Vice President Quayle. President Raegen, after being shot, was out of office, Vice President Bush took over. President Clinton had no one take over, because he was really healthy. It was interesting to see which Presidents were getting sick and couldn't do their job!

Jack Estavanik's insight:

If you ever just want to know exactly what the Twenty-Fifth Amendment looks like in the Constitution, here you go! This is basically a textbook definition style webpage that says exactly what the Twenty-Fifth Amendment is. If the President dies, the Vice President takes over. If the Vice President dies, the President elects a new Vice President with a majority vote from House of Congress. Those are the main parts of this Amendment, although there are many more!

Use 25th Amendment to Remove Obama from Office!

Use 25th Amendment to Remove Obama from Office, is Barack Obama suffering from diminished capacity so severe that he should be removed from office in accordance with the 25th Amendment?
Jack Estavanik's insight:

According to some people, killing Obama and making Biden become the President will save the country for eternal misery. I just included this article because it's from a Canadian website and they didn't even have to do this because it doesn't apply to them in any way. I find that really funny. Although, it's a well-thought out plan, it's stupid. Killing him wouldn't be solving anything, it would make things worse. This use of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment for evil is bad.

Jack Estavanik's insight:

JFK's assassination was the last time where a Vice President was permanetly moved to presidency. That was exactly 50 years ago. 50 years without a president dying in office. Although, I don't want the presidents to die. it would be more appealing to me if they did, so there would actually be some news articles from this time period, when the Amendment was actually in play. But yeah, 50 years is a long time.

Abraham Lincoln's Assassination

Abraham Lincoln's Assassination | Jack Estavanik-Twenty-Fifth Amendment | Scoop.it
On April 14, 1865, John Wilkes Booth, a famous actor and Confederate sympathizer, fatally shot President Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C.
Jack Estavanik's insight:

Abraham Lincoln's Assassination is one of the most famous assassinations of all time. Everybody knows John Wilkes Booth went to Ford's Theater to kill Abraham Lincoln while watching a play. It even inspired the god-awful book that those poor honor students had to read, Manhunt, by James L. Swanson. After his tragic death, Vice President Andrew Johnson took over the role.  This event was one of the countless others that inspired the Twenty-Fifth Amendment that was ratified in 1967.
