For those raised in the information age, life without the internet is no life at all. It is often a primary focus of a teen’s day (75% of teens are online several times per day) and an important means by which they communicate with the world and take in new information. While information can be found in various sources across the internet, an overwhelming majority of teens and pre-teens tend to gather their information from social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. A 2015 report by the Media Insights Project found that the majority of surveyed Millennials (aged 18-34) cited Facebook as their sole or primary source of key news and other information.

I have been doing a lot of traveling these past couple months. I attended
the ISTE conference and gave a couple poster sessions. I also
delivered professional development in my own district and a week long class
in Arizona. One topic that is getting left behind in all this technology is

Nick Urban's curator insight, July 17, 2015 3:50 PM

I really love this article that discusses the use of iPads and coding in the classroom to not only gain knowledge in how to code, but also in learning the content of the course. Coding offers a great way for students to become dynamic and fluid in their learning and also being exposed to one of the largest growth industries in the world. As everything becomes more digital there becomes a greater need for coders and designers. Thus, this allows students to see the power of coding and creates a great interest field in a new way of life.
