EVALUATION

The things I have learned and the things I am looking forward to try out.
Ronn Vergel Anzaldo's insight:

I have been introduced / familiarized with the majority of the topics included in this output - these were covered during my InfoMan class. Some of which were even used in other classes for presentation (prezi, sparkol) and requirements (Google docs, excel formulas). For those that are new to me like, Pinterest, Wix, and Twitter, provided that I have the time, I would definitely want to familiarize myself with these stuffs especially Twitter (I will use it as one of my outlets :D). What I will take form the exercises are the new learnings which would be of great use be it in class or in the workplace. Another realization that I have made is that technology is really changing how we humans live. For one, it is making our lives easier. But due constant developments, almost everyday you hear about a release of a new product/gadget, for our part as humans we have to always keep ourselves up to date. Keeping ourselves informed of these developments would avoid us from being left out. Being keen about technologies would also be beneficial for our personal and professional growth. In the sense that, what we learn would serve as an added skill. And these added skills would be our competitive advantage against other, especially in the workplace where there is always a competition to stand out and be noticed from the rest - that eventually could lead to promotions.

Zoho.com is a web service that allows you to do almost anything online, same things you do on one’s desktop pc – offers a wide range of services. Outputs from this site can be easily posted on any blogs or websites. But when working on larger files that is where some problems could be experienced (slow performance). It said to be the best alternative for MS Office, but the best service/products could not be expected.

Ronn Vergel Anzaldo's insight:

Google Docs is an cloud based competitor to MS Office. It offers a word processing suite, can creat spreadsheets and presentation, etc. which is a free alternative to the more expensive MS Ofice tools. Collaboration with other users is also made possible, just by sharing the link to others.  One major set back in using this is that an internet access is a must.

Ronn Vergel Anzaldo's insight:

Wix.com is a drag and drop type of website builder established in 2005. Using wix.com creating your own personal website is done with much ease and fun and absolutely free of charge. The site makes use of Flash and provides an array of templates. With their pre-set templates, it would definitely be a good start for new bloggers. This site is most ideal for artists and those with the creative minds, for outputs here would definitely standout from the rests.

It allows the users to customize their templates according to their preference, your own style if header, font style, etc.  It also offers the capability of tracking the views on a certain entry. One fun thing about doing an entry using wordpress is that the service provider submits it to the directory of Google.  Simplicity and Functionality are the best description on WordPress.Com.

MS Skydrive also allows a user to store files in the cloud at the Microsoft servers – resulting to accessibility to files. One can upload any type of files and provide access (editing permission) for collaborators.  On the other hand, this service does not allow renaming of files, or transferring one file to another folder; making organizing difficult.

Dropbox.com is an online site that could be used as backup storage for data. What’s good about this site is that it allows mobility. Space for documents depends on the size you have purchased, but a user can get additional space for free by referring new users to try the service.

Spicynodes.com / Spicynodes.org

Spicynodes.com / Spicynodes.org | IT Workshop - Surfing the Net | Scoop.it
Ronn Vergel Anzaldo's insight:

Spicynodes.com is another free online mind-mapping tool. I would describe it as combination of a prezi and a popplet, for it is also animated (flies you to the information you want to point out) and also involves connecting ideas and contents. It allows you to see a preview of the other connected topics. One downside is that creating a bubble is more tedious – being requested to give a title or short description about the bubble, formatting the style of your presentation as you preferred, etc.

Prezi.com

Prezi.com | IT Workshop - Surfing the Net | Scoop.it
One funny thing, the first time i saw a prezi presentation, i was really at awe, just like a child with a new toy. Such presentation are like the ones being done in CNN (referring to the "3D Effect").
Ronn Vergel Anzaldo's insight:

Prezi.Com is one of the newest tools for presentation. A huge leap from the old PowerPoint presentation, this uses flash technology. Outputs made from this site, literally and figuratively pops out of your screen – it is animated.  I would say it has a user-friendly interface, it is easy to make changes, edit, resize, etc. on your work because of the easily/visible icons. One negative comment I would give, is that if the content are not properly ordered, especially on the transitions, if could make your audience feel dizzy because of the constant zooming in and out. Another is that the site only offers limited templates, unless you pay and go pro.

Blogger.com

Blogger.com | IT Workshop - Surfing the Net | Scoop.it
Ronn Vergel Anzaldo's insight:

Blogger.Com is considered to be one of the first free blogging sites. Another great feature of this site is that a user can make as many blog entries without the concern on the available space. One downside of this site is the bar at the top of the page which shows links to sometimes unnecessary contents and entries. Overall, this is a highly recommended site for blogging-newbie(s) due to its simplicity and giving the users an opportunity to earn extra income with just their blog entries.
